The year 1905 in Argentine football saw Alumni crowning Argentine champion, winning its 5th league title in six seasons. A new team, Reformer Athletic Club from the city of Campana, registered to play the tournament.

Argentina contested its first official tournament in 1905. The squad played Uruguay for Copa Lipton on 15 August 1905. The game ended 0-0 after extra time and the trophy was awarded to Uruguay as the visiting team.

Alumni Athletic Club, or simply Alumni, was an Argentine football team active during the first years of the sport in that country. Although officially founded in 1898, the team had been formed in 1893 when a group of students from the Buenos Aires English High School joined Alexander Watson Hutton to form a team in order to participate in the championship organized by the Argentine Association Football League.

The Copa de Competencia was an official Argentine football cup competition contested between 1920 and 1926. It was established by the "Asociación Amateurs de Football", a dissident body formed a year before. The Associación Amateurs organized its own championships until 1926 when it merged to official Asociación Argentina.

The Liga Rosarina de Football was the main body that organised the practice of association football in Rosario, Argentina, from 1905 to 1930. Rosario Central, Newell's Old Boys, Rosario A.C. and Atlético Argentino were its founding members.

The Sociedad Sportiva Argentina was an Argentine multi-sports club sited in Buenos Aires. The headquarters were located in Florida street nº 183 while the stadium was sited in Palermo, next to Hipódromo Argentino. Originally established in 1899 under the name "Sociedad Hípica Argentina" for the practise of equestrian activities, the Sociedad Sportiva would held a large variety of sport events in several disciplines, such as football, athletics, auto racing, aviation, aerostatics, aeronautics, boxing, bicycle racing, motorcycle racing, polo, rugby union, trot, sulky races, show jumping, among others.

British football clubs tours over South America contributed to the spread and develop of football in the region during the first years of the 20th century. The first club to tour on the region was Southampton F.C. in 1904, followed by several teams until 1929 with Chelsea F.C. being the last team to tour.

The 1907 Copa de Competencia Jockey Club final was the football match that decided the champion of the 1st. edition of this National cup of Argentina. In the match, played at the Virrey del Pino and Superí field in Belgrano, Buenos Aires on 8 September 1907, Alumni defeated Belgrano A.C. 4–2. to win their first Copa de Competencia trophy.
