Gimnasia y Esgrima de Buenos Aires (promoted last year) made its debut at the top division while Argentino de Quilmes was relegated to Segunda División. [1]

Estudiantes de Buenos Aires was promoted to Primera by the Association after the good campaigns made in lower divisions and the contribution made by the club to the practice of football.

It was the team's 10th title in 12 seasons and was also its last tournament disputed so the football team was disbanded at the end of the season due to financial problems.

The 1910 Tie Cup Final was the final match to decide the winner of the Tie Cup, the 11th. edition of the international competition organised by the Argentine and Uruguayan Football Associations. The final was contested by Argentine C.A. Estudiantes and Uruguayan CURCC. It was the last Tie Cup played by the CURCC before the club dissolved in 1915.

Maximiliano Susan was an Argentine footballer who played as centre forward. Consolidated as one of the biggest scorers of Argentina during the first decades of the XX century, Susán played his entire senior career for Estudiantes de Buenos Aires, where he is regarded as one of the greatest players in the history of the club. With that club he won the 1910 Copa de Competencia Jockey Club, the only title of Estudiantes in top national competitions.
