The King Alfonso XIII's Cup 1924 was the 24th staging of the Copa del Rey, the Spanish football cup competition.
The competition started on 23 March 1924, and concluded on May 4, 1924, with the final, held at the Estadio de Atotxa in San Sebastián, in which Real Unión lifted the trophy for the second time [1] [2] (third time counting the trophy won by Racing de Irun in 1913) with a 1–0 victory over Real Madrid with José Echeveste netting the only goal of the match. Estadio El Molinón, officially Estadio Municipal El Molinón-Enrique Castro "Quini", is an association football stadium in Gijón, Asturias, Spain. The stadium is the home ground of Real Sporting de Gijón. With a capacity of 29,371 seats, El Molinón is the 20th largest stadium in Spain and the second largest in Asturias.
The 2008–09 Copa del Rey was the 107th staging of the Copa del Rey. The competition started on 23 August 2008 and concluded on 13 May 2009 with the final, held at the Mestalla Stadium in Valencia, in which Barcelona lifted the trophy for the record-extending 25th time in their history with a 4–1 victory over Athletic Bilbao, who qualified for the third qualifying round of the 2009–10 UEFA Europa League. The defending cup holders were Valencia, but they were eliminated in the quarter-finals.
