The Bulldogs advanced to the College World Series, falling to the USC Trojans two games to one in the best of three series. [1]
Future president George H. W. Bush was a third baseman and captain on the team.

Breslow pitched for 12 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the San Diego Padres, Boston Red Sox, Cleveland Indians, Minnesota Twins, Oakland Athletics, Arizona Diamondbacks, and Miami Marlins. He also pitched for Team Israel at the 2017 World Baseball Classic.
John Anton Stuper is an American former baseball coach and pitcher. He attended Point Park University before playing professionally from 1982 to 1985 for the St. Louis Cardinals and the Cincinnati Reds. He then served as the head coach of the Yale Bulldogs (1993–2022).
The Yale Bulldogs men's ice hockey team represents Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut and is the oldest collegiate ice hockey team in the United States. The Bulldogs compete in the Ivy League and the ECAC Hockey League (ECACHL) and play their home games at Ingalls Rink, also called the Yale Whale. The current head coach is Keith Allain, who led the Bulldogs to an Ivy League championship in his first year as head coach. Allain is assisted by former QU/UND goaltender, Josh Siembida. On April 13, 2013, the Bulldogs shut out Quinnipiac 4–0 to win their first NCAA Division I Championship.

Gilmore Kinney was an American college basketball standout at Yale University in the 1900s. He was a two-time Helms Athletic Foundation All-American and was named their national player of the year as a senior in 1906–07. That year, he led the Yale Bulldogs to their first-ever Eastern Intercollegiate Basketball League season championship title, and was the league's leading scorer at 10.1 points per game. Kinney also played for Yale's baseball team.

The season progressed through the regular season and concluded with the 1948 NCAA baseball tournament and 1948 College World Series. The College World Series, held for the second time in 1948, consisted of the two remaining teams in the NCAA Tournament and was held in Kalamazoo, Michigan at Hyames Field as a best of three series. Southern California claimed the championship two games to one over Yale.

Olumiye Dimolu "Miye" Oni is an American-Nigerian professional basketball player for the Osceola Magic of the NBA G League. He played college basketball for the Yale Bulldogs. He plays the shooting guard position. Oni was named Ivy League Player of the Year in 2019 and was a three-time All-Ivy League selection.
Eric Brodkowitz is an American-Israeli professional baseball pitcher who is a free agent. He plays for the Israel National Baseball Team. Pitching for the Yale Bulldogs, he was named to the 2018 First Team All-Ivy League Team as a unanimous selection. In 2021, he has pitched for the Idaho Falls Chukars of the Pioneer League. Brodkowitz is also a investment banking analyst with Goldman Sachs.
