Patrick William Fitzgerald Jr. is the current head coach of the Northwestern University Wildcats football team. He was selected after the unexpected death of Randy Walker and announced at a press conference on July 7, 2006. He was 31 at the time, making him the youngest head football coach in the Big Ten Conference and NCAA Division I FBS by five years. Fitzgerald would go on to become the longest-tenured head coach in Northwestern football history and entering the 2022 season is the fifth longest-tenured head coach in Division I FBS. As a linebacker for Northwestern from 1993 to 1996, he won both the Bronko Nagurski Trophy and Chuck Bednarik Award twice as the best defensive player in college football. He was awarded a Big Ten Medal of Honor in 1997 and was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2008.

The Northwestern Wildcats men's basketball team is an NCAA Division I college basketball team representing Northwestern University in the Big Ten Conference. Men's basketball was introduced at Northwestern in 1901. Since 2013, the team has been coached by Chris Collins. The Wildcats have advanced to the NCAA tournament twice, in 2017 and 2023, after being the only longstanding member of a Power Five conference to have never made the tournament. The Wildcats have won two Big Ten conference championships.

Tammy Kay Williams is an American, former collegiate four-time All-American, four-time professional All-Star softball player and coach. She played her natural position at shortstop from 2006 to 2009 at Northwestern, as well as the Team USA and Chicago Bandits softball team. She owns Northwestern' softball team all-time career records in batting average, home runs, hits and total bases. She helped lead the Wildcats to a national runner up finish in the 2006 Women's College World Series. Williams was drafted tenth overall by the Chicago Bandits in the 2009 NPF Draft, winning two Cowles Cup championships in 2011 and 2015. She later worked as a sports broadcaster for the Big Ten and an assistant softball coach at Northern Illinois.

John William Shurna is an American–Lithuanian professional basketball player for Herbalife Gran Canaria of the Liga ACB. He is the 2012 Big Ten scoring champion. He played in the 2012 NBA Summer League with the Atlanta Hawks. He then signed with the New York Knicks, but was waived at the end of the preseason.

Venric Emeka-Wococha Mark is an American football running back, return specialist and wide receiver who is currently a free agent. Mark attended 2014 West Texas A&M Buffaloes after previously playing for Northwestern. He has completed his redshirt junior season for the 2013 Northwestern Wildcats team. He was a 2012 College Football All-America Team first team punt returner selection and a 2012 All-Big Ten team second team running back for the 2012 Wildcats. He holds Northwestern records for single-game, single-season and career kickoff return yards as well as the single-game punt return yards record.

The 1957 NCAA University Division baseball season, play of college baseball in the United States organized by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) began in the spring of 1957. The season progressed through the regular season and concluded with the 1957 College World Series. The College World Series, held for the eleventh time in 1957, consisted of one team from each of eight geographical districts and was held in Omaha, Nebraska at Johnny Rosenblatt Stadium as a double-elimination tournament. California claimed the championship.

Joshua Dallas "Dal" Marvil was an American football player and coach. He played at the tackle position for the Northwestern Wildcats football team and was a consensus first-team All-American in 1931. He played for three Big Ten Conference championship teams at Northwestern University, two in football and one in basketball (1930–31). He also served as an assistant football coach at the University of San Francisco.

The Northwestern Wildcats field hockey team is the intercollegiate field hockey program representing Northwestern University. The school competes in the Big Ten Conference in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The Northwestern field hockey team plays its home games at Lakeside Field on the university campus in Evanston, Illinois. The Wildcats have won six regular-season conference titles, one conference tournament championship, and have appeared in the NCAA tournament 17 times, advancing to the Final Four on four occasions. In 2021, the Wildcats won their first NCAA tournament. The team is currently coached by Tracey Fuchs.

The 2016–17 Northwestern Wildcats men's basketball team represented Northwestern University in the 2016–17 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. They were led by fourth-year head coach Chris Collins. They were members of the Big Ten Conference and played their home games at Welsh-Ryan Arena. They finished the season 24–12, 10–8 in Big Ten play to finish in a tie for fifth place. In the Big Ten tournament, they defeated Rutgers and Maryland before losing to Wisconsin in the semifinals. They received the school's first ever bid to the NCAA tournament as a No. 8 seed in the West region. In the First Round, they defeated No. 9-seeded Vanderbilt before losing to No. 1-seeded Gonzaga in the Second Round.

Spencer Allen is an American baseball coach and former second baseman. He played college baseball at Green River College from 1997 to 1998 before transferring to Iowa State from 1999 to 2001 for head coach Lyle Smith. He then served as the head coach of the Northwestern Wildcats (2016–2021).

Bryant Scott McIntosh is an American former basketball player and current assistant coach for the Northwestern Wildcats of the Big Ten Conference. He played college basketball for the Northwestern Wildcats. He holds the Northwestern single-game, single-season, and career assist records. He was a 2017 All-Big Ten team second-team selection and led the 2016–17 Northwestern Wildcats to the first NCAA tournament in school history.

Kate Drohan is an American softball coach and former collegiate softball player who is the current head coach of the Northwestern Wildcats softball team in the Big Ten Conference. She led Northwestern to the 2006 Women's College World Series and a national runner up finish in 2022. She has mentored athletes Tammy Williams and Eileen Canney. She played college softball for the Providence Friars from 1992 to 1995 in the Big East Conference, where she was a three-time All-Conference honoree.

The Wildcats were members of the Big Ten Conference and played their home games at Rocky Miller Park in Evanston, Illinois. They were led by sixth-year head coach Spencer Allen.

Danielle Lauren Williams is an American college softball player for the Northwestern Wildcats. As a freshman in 2019, she was named NFCA National Freshman of the Year.
