The 1962 Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship was the 72nd staging of the Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Tipperary County Board in 1887.

Thurles Sarsfields were the defending champions.

On 14 October 1962, Thurles Sarsfields won the championship after a 1-07 to 1-06 defeat of Moycarkey-Borris in the final at Thurles Sportsfield. [1] It was their 24th championship title overall and their second title in succession.

Moycarkey-Borris GAA is a Tipperary GAA club which is located in County Tipperary, Ireland. Both hurling and Gaelic football are played in the "Mid-Tipperary" divisional competitions. The club is centred on the village of Littleton but also takes in areas such as Two-Mile-Borris, Horse and Jockey, and Moycarkey.

John Joseph Hayes was an Irish hurler. At club level he played with Moycarkey-Borris and was also a member of the Tipperary senior hurling team. He usually lined out as a corner-back.
