County Sligo is a county in Ireland. It is located in the Border Region and is part of the province of Connacht. Sligo is the administrative capital and largest town in the county. Sligo County Council is the local authority for the county. The population of the county was 65,535 at the 2016 census. It is noted for Benbulben Mountain, one of Ireland's most distinctive natural landmarks.
Easky or Easkey is a village in County Sligo, Ireland. It is on the Atlantic coast, 26 miles (42 km) from Sligo and 15 miles (24 km) from Ballina, County Mayo. The village name derives from the Irish language term for fish ("iasc") and "Iascaigh" literally means "abounding in fish", due to the Easky River that lies adjacent to the village itself. Easky, as a parish, was originally called "Imleach Iseal". The area is a tourist destination on account of its scenery and water sports. Easky is a designated area on Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way tourist route.

The Sligo Senior Hurling Championship is an annual Gaelic Athletic Association competition organised by Sligo GAA among the top hurling clubs in County Sligo. The winner qualifies to represent the county in the Connacht Junior Club Hurling Championship, the winner of which progresses to the All-Ireland Junior Club Hurling Championship. Previously, the winners used to compete in the Connacht Senior Club Hurling Championship but were very unsuccessful at that level.

Curry won the 2006 title, claiming their 6th title in all, by beating Bunninadden in the final.

This is a round-up of the 1991 Sligo Senior Football Championship. The 1991 final brought down the curtain on a great rivalry, as Tubbercurry defeated St. Mary's in the final by a solitary point, in what was the seventh final meeting in twelve years between both clubs. This was Tubbercurry's 19th title in all, and would be their last of the twentieth century. The defending champions Shamrock Gaels crashed out of the championship in the opening round after defeat to Easkey.
This is a round-up of the 1978 Sligo Senior Football Championship. Tourlestrane won their first title in 22 years, after defeating surprise finalists Grange, who had caused a major upset by knocking out the holders and reigning Connacht champions, St. Mary's, in the semi-final after a replay. This final remains not only Grange's only appearance in a Senior final, but the only occasion that a team from North Sligo has reached the final. The Championship structure was changed in this year, from the two-section round-robin method, to a knockout system, where the sides defeated in the opening round played on in their own section, with two sides qualifying for the semi-finals, while two sides from the "winner's section" joined them in the last four. This was the only year that such a backdoor system operated in the Championship.
The Sligo Under-21 Football Championship is an annual Gaelic Athletic Association competition between the Under-21 panels of the clubs in Sligo. Up to 2006 this was the Under-21 Championship, but a decision was taken to hold the Championship a year earlier, therefore there were two Championships in 2006 - an Under-21 Championship, and the Under-20 competition, in which Tourlestrane defeated Eastern Harps in the final. No competition was held in 2014 as it was decided to re-instate the competition in its Under-21 format for 2015. An amalgamated team of Easkey / Enniscrone are the current champions (2019).
Enniscrone/Kilglass is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the barony of Tireragh in West Sligo, comprising the parish of Kilglass in County Sligo, Republic of Ireland.
Bunninadden is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the south of the county, comprising the parish of Bunninadden in County Sligo, Ireland.

Desmond "Dessie" Sloyan is an Irish former Gaelic footballer. His league and championship career at senior level with the Sligo county team spanned ten seasons from 1996 until 2006.
The 2022–23 All-Ireland Junior Club Hurling Championship was the 19th staging of the All-Ireland Junior Club Hurling Championship, the Gaelic Athletic Association's junior inter-county club hurling tournament. The championship ran from 29 October 2022 to 14 January 2023.
