Gilles Deleuze French philosopher

Gilles Deleuze was a French philosopher who, from the early 1950s until his death in 1995, wrote on philosophy, literature, film, and fine art. His most popular works were the two volumes of Capitalism and Schizophrenia: Anti-Oedipus (1972) and A Thousand Plateaus (1980), both co-written with psychoanalyst Félix Guattari. His metaphysical treatise Difference and Repetition (1968) is considered by many scholars to be his magnum opus. A. W. Moore, citing Bernard Williams's criteria for a great thinker, ranks Deleuze among the "greatest philosophers". His work has influenced a variety of disciplines across philosophy and art, including literary theory, post-structuralism and postmodernism.

Idris Azad Pakistani writer

Idris Azad on 7 August 1969, is an author, philosopher, novelist, poet, dramatist and columnist. He has written several books on fiction, journalism, critic, poetry, philosophy, mysticism and art. He is teacher of logic and philosophy at International Islamic University, Islamabad. Idrees Azad is also associated with Pakistan Film Industry. He is Head of the Department of VFX & CGI at Paragon Academy of Performing Arts, Shabab Noor Studio, Lahore and assists the director Syed Noor in film making as well.

Ásta Kristjana Sveinsdóttir is an Icelandic philosopher living in San Francisco, California. She is the 4th Icelandic woman to have completed a doctorate in philosophy and the first in metaphysics. Born in Reykjavík, she has a BA in mathematics and philosophy from Brandeis University in 1992, AM in philosophy from Harvard University, 1997, and PhD in philosophy from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, 2004. She was a host lecturer at Vassar College in New York in late 2004 and early 2005 and has been a lecturer in philosophy at San Francisco State University since the autumn of 2005.

Karl Theodor Jaspers was a German-Swiss psychiatrist and philosopher who had a strong influence on modern theology, psychiatry, and philosophy. After being trained in and practicing psychiatry, Jaspers turned to philosophical inquiry and attempted to discover an innovative philosophical system. He was often viewed as a major exponent of existentialism in Germany, though he did not accept the label.

Vincent van Gogh chronology

This is a chronology of the artist Vincent van Gogh. It is based as far as possible on Van Gogh's correspondence. However, it has only been possible to construct the chronology by drawing on additional sources. Most of his letters are not dated, and it was only in 1973 that a sufficient dating was established by Jan Hulsker, subsequently revised by Ronald Pickvance and marginally corrected by others. Many other relevant dates in the chronology derive from the biographies of his brother Theo, his uncle and godfather Cent, his friends Émile Bernard and Paul Gauguin, and others.

The Third Canadian Ministry was the second cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Sir John A. Macdonald. It governed Canada from 17 October 1878 to 6 June 1891, including the 4th, 5th, and 6th Canadian Parliaments, as well as the first three months of the 7th.
