Evonne Cawley and Helen Gourlay were the defending champions. ^[1] Cawley did not compete. Gourlay, first-seeded, won the title together with fellow Australian Dianne Fromholtz in the final after defeating second-seeded Betsy Nagelsen and Kerry Reid. ^[1]
