The 1982 Nehru Cup was the first edition of the Nehru Cup. It was held between 16 February to 3 March in Calcutta. [1]

Contents

Format

A total of 6 teams participated in the tournament through being invited by the All India Football Federation. The tournament would be played in a round-robin style with the top two in the final standings then meeting in a final match to crown the champions.

Amateur teams and 'B' sides from Europe were invited.

The CAB Jubilee Tournament, also known as Hero Cup for sponsorship reasons, was a cricket tournament played in India in 1993 to commemorate the Cricket Association of Bengal's diamond jubilee. India, Sri Lanka, West Indies, South Africa and Zimbabwe took part in the multi-nation tournament. Envisaged as a six-nation tournament Pakistan pulled out on 3 November, four days before the commencement of the first game. India beat West Indies in the final of the tournament to win the Hero Cup. Hero Cup was the first cricket event to be sponsored by Hero Honda.

Aloke Mukherjee is an Indian former international football left back. He was active as a footballer from 1978 to 1997. He was named in the All Time best Eleven Indian Team by footballer and coach PK. Banerjee. He worked as Deputy General Manager & Joint Director–Food in Food Corporation of India.

The 1970 IFA Shield Final was the 74th final of the IFA Shield, the second oldest football competition in India, and was contested between Kolkata giant East Bengal and Iranian giant PAS Tehran on 25 September 1970 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Mihir Bose, is a retired Indian professional footballer who played as a forward. He played for the India national team, representing the country in the 1981 Merdeka Tournament in Kuala Lumpur and the 1982 Nehru Cup in Kolkata. In a domestic career spanning twelve years between 1977 and 1989, he had represented all three of Calcutta's football clubs, East Bengal, Mohun Bagan, and Mohammedan Sporting. Bose won twenty-four trophies while representing the big three of Kolkata.
