The 1991 Hopman Cup was the third edition of the Hopman Cup, an international mixed teams tournament played at the Burswood Entertainment Complex in Perth, Western Australia. The event was held from 27 December 1990 through 4 January 1991.

Contents

Twelve teams competed in the tournament with the top four seeded teams (United States, Spain, Switzerland and the Soviet Union) each receiving a bye into the quarter-finals. The remaining eight teams played in the first round. In the final which was played on 4 January, Yugoslav pair, Goran Prpić and Monica Seles won both of their singles matches to defeat the American pair, Zina Garrison and David Wheaton without needing to go with the mixed doubles (which was also won by Yugoslavia).

First round

The opening match of the 1991 Hopman Cup featured local Elizabeth Smylie and Pat Cash taking on Great Britain pair in Sarah Loosemore and Jeremy Bates. Despite losing the opening tie in straight sets, Australia qualified through to the quarter-finals in the mixed doubles. [1]

The Hopman Cup is an international tennis tournament that plays mixed-gender teams on a country-by-country basis. It was first held in Perth, Western Australia each year from 1989 to 2019, played on indoor hardcourt, before being replaced on the calendar in 2020 by the now defunct ATP Cup. The tournament was played in an eight-team format, with the exception for the years 1990-1995, with twelve teams competing. It returned in July 2023 in Nice, France, played on outdoor clay, with six teams invited to participate.

The 2006 Hopman Cup was the 18th Hopman Cup tournament. The champions were Lisa Raymond and Taylor Dent of the United States. The Netherlands qualified and reached the final. Michaëlla Krajicek won her singles match, and Taylor Dent beat Peter Wessels. The mixed doubles competition was won in close sets by Raymond and Dent. The event was held at the Burswood Entertainment Complex in Perth on 30 December 2005 through 6 January 2006. This was the first elite-level tennis tournament in which players could challenge line calls using the Hawk-Eye technology. Players or teams had a limit of two unsuccessful challenges per set.

The 2008 Hopman Cup corresponds to the 20th edition of the Hopman Cup tournament between nations in men's and women's tennis. Eight teams participated in the World Group with one qualifier from the Asian region, Chinese Taipei.
