Katarina Srebotnik is a Slovenian professional tennis player. She reached her career-high singles ranking of world No. 20 on 7 August 2006. On 4 July 2011, she reached No. 1 of the WTA doubles rankings, holding this ranking for 10 weeks.
Amélie Mauresmo defeated Justine Henin-Hardenne in the final, 2–6, 6–3, 6–4 to win the ladies' singles tennis title at the 2006 Wimbledon Championships. It was her first Wimbledon title and her second and last Grand Slam title, having won the Australian Open earlier in the year. Mauresmo also became the first French woman to win Wimbledon since Suzanne Lenglen in 1925. With her loss, Henin-Hardenne missed the chance of completing a career Grand Slam.
Venus Williams defeated Marion Bartoli in the final, 6–4, 6–1 to win the ladies' singles tennis title at the 2007 Wimbledon Championships. Williams, ranked 31st at the time and seeded 23rd, remains the lowest ranked and lowest seeded woman ever to win Wimbledon. This was Williams' fourth Wimbledon singles title and she also became the first female champion to earn the same prize money as the male champion, following the tournament's decision to award equal pay for the first time that year. Amélie Mauresmo was the defending champion, but was defeated by Nicole Vaidišová in the fourth round.
Yan Zi and Zheng Jie were the defending champions but Zheng did not compete. Yan partnered with Peng Shuai but lost in the quarterfinals to Alicia Molik and Mara Santangelo.
Ana Ivanovic won her first and only Grand Slam singles title, beating first-time finalist Dinara Safina, 6–4, 6–3 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2008 French Open. Ivanovic became the new WTA singles No. 1 by reaching the final. Maria Sharapova, Jelena Janković and Svetlana Kuznetsova were also in contention for the No. 1 ranking at the start of the tournament. Ivanovic dropped only one set the entire tournament, to her compatriot Janković in the semifinals. This marked the last time Ivanovic would reach a Grand Slam quarterfinal for four and a half years until she reached the quarterfinals of the 2012 US Open, a span of 18 Grand Slam tournaments.
Defending champion Venus Williams successfully defended her title, defeating her sister Serena Williams in the final, 7–5, 6–4 to win the ladies' singles tennis title at the 2008 Wimbledon Championships. It was Venus' fifth Wimbledon title and her seventh major singles title overall. She won the title without losing a set, the second time she did so at a major.
Cara Black and Liezel Huber were the defending champions but lost in the semifinals to Lisa Raymond and Samantha Stosur.
Jamie Murray and Jelena Janković were the defending champions but Janković did not participate. Murray partnered with Liezel Huber but lost in the semifinals to Bob Bryan and Samantha Stosur.
Serena Williams defeated Jelena Janković in the final, 6–4, 7–5 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2008 US Open. It was her third US Open singles title and ninth major singles title overall. With the win, she regained the world No. 1 singles ranking for the first time since 2003. This was also her second US Open and third major overall won without losing a set during the tournament. Three of the top four seeds were in contention for the No. 1 ranking at the start of the tournament.
Serena and Venus Williams were the defending champions, but lost in the third round to Elena Dementieva and Lina Krasnoroutskaya.
Lisa Raymond and Rennae Stubbs were the defending champions, but lost in the quarterfinals to Anna Kournikova and Chanda Rubin.
Serena and Venus Williams defeated Julie Halard-Decugis and Ai Sugiyama in the final, 6-3, 6-2 to win the ladies' doubles tennis title at the 2000 Wimbledon Championships. They became the first pair of sisters to win the title. It was their third major title in doubles, and the third component in an eventual career Golden Slam in doubles. The Williams sisters had only played three events thus far into the season, and only entered the draw via a wildcard.
Katarina Srebotnik was the defending champion but did not complete in the Juniors this year.
Serena and Venus Williams defeated Andrea Hlaváčková and Lucie Hradecká in the final, 7–5, 6–4 to win the ladies' doubles tennis title at the 2012 Wimbledon Championships. It was the Williams sisters' fifth Wimbledon title together, and their 13th major doubles title together.
Serena and Venus Williams were the defending champions but withdrew in the third round.
Leoš Friedl and Daniela Hantuchová were the defending champions but decided not to play together. Friedl played with Tina Križan and lost in first round to Mike Bryan and Liezel Huber, while Hantuchová competed with Kevin Ullyett.
María Emilia Salerni was the defending champion but did not complete in the Juniors this year.
Serena and Venus Williams were the defending champions, but did not participate this year due to Serena's pregnancy.
Cara Black defeated Brie Rippner in the final, 6–3, 7–5 to win the girls' singles tennis title at the 1997 Wimbledon Championships.
