The 2017–18 WHL season was the 52nd season of the Western Hockey League (WHL). The regular season began on September 22, 2017, and ended on March 18, 2018. The Moose Jaw Warriors finished the season with the league's best record. The playoffs began on March 22, 2018, and ended on May 13; the winning team, the Swift Current Broncos, were awarded the Ed Chynoweth Cup and a berth in the 2018 Memorial Cup tournament, held at the Brandt Centre in Regina, Saskatchewan from May 18 to 27, 2018. The Regina Pats automatically qualified for the tournament as hosts.
The ECAC 2 Tournament was a college ice hockey conference tournament played from 1967 until 1984. For several years it was the only championship held for lower-tier college programs under the oversight of the NCAA and served as the de facto NCAA national championship until 1978.
The Conference of New England ice hockey tournament began in 2017 with eight of the ten teams qualifying for the postseason. The field was reduced to 6 teams beginning in 2019. The 2021 tournament was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2022 season saw the tournament briefly change to an 8-team format before returning to its 6-team arrangement.
The 2010 CIS Men's University Cup Hockey Tournament was held March 25–28, 2010. It was the second year of a two-year CIS Championship bid by Lakehead University and hosted at Fort William Gardens hockey rink. The UNB Varsity Reds would not be defending their title from 2009, despite a 27-1 record, as they lost in the second round of the AUS playoffs and did not advance.
