The competition started on January 28, 1999, and concluded on June 27, 1999, with the second leg of the final, held at the Estádio do Maracanã in Rio de Janeiro, in which Juventude lifted the trophy for the first time with a 0-0 draw with Botafogo.

Romário, of Flamengo, and Dejan Petković, of Vitória, with 7 goals each, were the competition's topscorers.

Format

The competition was disputed by 65 clubs in a knock-out format where all rounds were played over two legs and the away goals rule was used, with the exception of the preliminary match, which was played in a single match, and in the first two rounds if the away team won the first leg with an advantage of at least two goals, the second leg was not played and the club automatically qualified to the next round.

Copa do Brasil Brazilian football competition

The Copa do Brasil is a knockout football competition played by 91 teams, representing all 26 Brazilian states plus the Federal District. It is the Brazilian domestic cup and the Brazilian equivalent of the FA Cup, Taça de Portugal, Copa del Rey, Scottish Cup and Copa Argentina. The Copa do Brasil is an opportunity for teams from smaller states to play against the big teams. The winner of the cup automatically qualifies for the following edition of the Copa Libertadores de América, the most prestigious continental football tournament contested by top clubs in South America organized by CONMEBOL.

Associação Ferroviária de Esportes Football club

Associação Ferroviária de Esportes, commonly referred to as simply Ferroviária, is a Brazilian association football club in Araraquara, São Paulo. They currently play in the Série D, the fourth tier of Brazilian football, as well as in the Campeonato Paulista Série A1, the top tier of the São Paulo state football league. Founded on April 12, 1950, Ferroviária is the only Araraquara club to reach the Campeonato Paulista first division. The club's best campaign in that competition was in 1959, when the club finished in the third position. It is also the only club of the city to have competed in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série B. The competition was contested by 87 teams, either qualified through participating their respective state championships (71), by the CBF Rankings (10) or those qualified for 2014 Copa Libertadores (6). Clubs that qualify for the 2014 Copa Libertadores enter the competition in the 4th stage. The best seven teams of the 2013 Brazilian Championship eliminated until the third round qualified for the 2014 Copa Sudamericana.

The 2020 Copa do Brasil was the 32nd edition of the Copa do Brasil football competition. It was held between 5 February 2020 and 7 March 2021.

The 2020 Campeonato Carioca de Futebol was the 117th edition of the top division of football in the state of Rio de Janeiro. The competition was organized by FERJ. It began on 22 December 2019 and ended on 15 July 2020. On 16 March 2020, FERJ suspended the Campeonato Carioca indefinitely due to the coronavirus pandemic in Brazil. The tournament resumed behind closed doors on 18 June 2020.

The 2021 Copa do Brasil final rounds are the final rounds of the 2021 Copa do Brasil football competition. They will be played from 27 July to 12 December 2021. A total of 16 teams compete in the final rounds to decide the champions of the 2021 Copa do Brasil.
