The 1999 S.League was the fourth season of the S.League, the top professional football league in Singapore. Teams played each other once both home and away, in a 22-match season.
The 1999 S.League was won by Home United, their first S.League title.
The league expanded again to 12 teams with the addition of a newly formed team, Clementi Khalsa who were based in Clementi and played their home games at the Clementi Stadium. Clementi Khalsa were formed in order to give an S.League representation to the Singaporean Sikh community.

As 1999 S.League champions, Home United qualified to compete in the 2000–01 Asian Club Championship. This was their first appearance in continental competition. The club reached the second round of the East Asian half of the competition, defeating Polícia de Segurança Pública of the Campeonato da 1ª Divisão do Futebol 11–0 on aggregate before being defeated 6–1 on aggregate in the second round by Shandong Luneng Taishan of the Chinese Jia-A League.

Ole Gunnar Solskjær KSO is a Norwegian professional football manager and former player. He is currently the manager of English club Manchester United. As a player, he played as a forward and spent most of his career with Manchester United. Solskjær also supervises a training academy for young footballers in his home town of Kristiansund, and is a patron of the Manchester United Supporters' Trust.
Park Ji-sung is a South Korean former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. He currently serves as a club ambassador for Manchester United, for whom he played from 2005 to 2012. Born in Goheung, Jeonnam, Park is the most successful Asian player in history, having won 19 trophies in his career. He is the first Asian footballer to have won the UEFA Champions League, to play in a UEFA Champions League final, as well as the first Asian to have won the FIFA Club World Cup. Park was able to play anywhere across the midfield and was noted for his exceptional fitness level, discipline, work ethic and off-the-ball movement. His remarkable endurance levels and pace earned him the nickname "Three-Lungs" Park.
The Singapore Premier League is a Singaporean professional league for men's association football clubs. At the highest level of domestic football competition in Singapore, it is the country's primary football competition. Currently contested by nine clubs, it consists of three rounds in which each team plays every other team once.
Balestier Khalsa Football Club is a professional football club which plays in Singapore Premier League. The club's logo depicts a Tiger, the nickname of the club, on top of a pair of Kirpan. The logo is made up of key elements from the two clubs it was merged from. The Tiger is the mascot of the Balestier half of the merged entity while the kirpan is a religious dagger worn by members of the Sikh faith, who were a major backer of half of the merged entity through the Clementi club.

It began against Leicester City in the FA Community Shield, with United prevailing 2–1 to win the first trophy of the domestic calendar. In February 2017, the club won their second trophy of the campaign, beating Southampton 3–2 in the EFL Cup Final. Although they missed out on qualifying for the 2017–18 UEFA Champions League via the league, having finished in sixth place, a 2–0 victory over Ajax in the 2017 UEFA Europa League Final meant they qualified for the Champions League group stage as Europa League title holders. The triumph made United as the fifth team to have won all three European main club trophies.
