The 1Malaysia Square (Malay : Dataran 1Malaysia) is a town square in Klebang town in the Malaysian state of Malacca which feature a whale fin sculpture and formerly a 1Malaysia signage. The square was officiated by Prime Minister Najib Razak in February 2012. [1] In December 2016, more than 20,000 peoples visited 1Malaysia Square to celebrate 755 years of Malacca. [2] Following the defeat of the Najib-led Barisan Nasional political coalition in the 2018 Malaysian general election, the 1Malaysia signage was removed from the square. It will be rebranded as 'Klebang Walk' by November 2023. [3]

Mahkota Parade is a shopping mall located in Banda Hilir, Malacca City, Malacca, Malaysia, which was originally established on 30 January 1994 and relaunched on 1 May 2010 after refurbishment. It was acquired by Hektar REIT in 2006 and became one of its shopping centres, alongside Kulim Central and Central Square in Kedah, Wetex Parade and Segamat Central in Johor, and Subang Parade in Selangor.
Dataran Pahlawan Melaka Megamall is a shopping mall located in Malacca City, Malacca, Malaysia. It was developed and is owned by Hatten Group Sdn Bhd on a 7.7 hectares site in the city, and is the biggest lifestyle shopping megamall in the state. The mall has a gross area of 1,500,000 square feet (140,000 m2) and a net retail area of 750,000 square feet (70,000 m2), and houses international fashion brands, international and local food and beverage favourites, entertainment centres, a movie cinema owned by Golden Screen Cinemas and karaoke centre. The land the mall now stands was once a seaside green space named Padang Pahlawan, where the date of the independence of Malaya was announced.

The Bersih 4 rally was a series of planned rallies carried out on 29 to 30 August 2015 in major cities in Malaysia, namely Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu and Kuching. There were subsequent rallies in over 70 cities around the world in support of the main rallies in Malaysia. The rallies were organised by The Coalition for Clean and Fair Elections or Bersih a coalition of non-government organisations which seeks to reform the current electoral system in Malaysia to ensure free, clean and fair elections. The rallies were being carried out with the objective to calling for clean and transparent governance in Malaysia as well as strengthening the parliamentary democracy system. The rallies are a followup to similar rallies that were carried out in 2007, 2011 and 2012. 30 August is the day before National Day which is on 31 August.

The 1Malaysia Development Berhad scandal is an ongoing political scandal in Malaysia, in which then-Prime Minister Najib Razak was accused of channeling over RM 2.67 billion into his personal bank accounts from 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), a government-run strategic development company. Following repeated calls for resignation by the public, Najib lost power in the 2018 Malaysian general election, and is currently on trial along with several key figures involved.
