27 February - Linda Wagenmakers is selected to represent Netherlands at the 2000 Eurovision Song Contest with her song "No Goodbyes". She is selected to be the forty-second Dutch Eurovision entry during Nationaal Songfestival held at Ahoy in Rotterdam.
23 April - Bart Schwertmann wins the sixteenth series of Soundmixshow , performing as Ian Gillan.
30 December - Bianca Hagenbeek wins the second series of Big Brother. This was the last series to be broadcast on Veronica.

Edsilia Francisca Rombley is a Dutch singer and television presenter. She began her career in 1995, as a member of the Dutch girl group Dignity. Rombley began her solo career in 1996, after winning the Dutch talent show Soundmixshow, later winning the European Soundmix Show as well the following year.

The Netherlands participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2000 with the song "No Goodbyes" written by Ellert Driessen and John O'Hare. The song was performed by Linda Wagenmakers. The Dutch broadcaster Nederlandse Omroep Stichting (NOS) organised the national final Nationaal Songfestival 2000 in order to select the Dutch entry for the 2000 contest in Stockholm, Sweden. Eight entries competed in the national final on 27 February 2000 where "No Goodbyes" performed by Linda Wagenmakers was selected as the winner following the combination of votes from twelve regional juries and a public vote.
