The 2004 Connecticut Huskies football team represented the University of Connecticut in the 2004 NCAA Division I-A football season as a member of the Big East Conference. The team was led by sixth-year head coach Randy Edsall and played its home games at Rentschler Field in East Hartford, Connecticut.
The Huskies were invited to a bowl game for the first time in program history. [1] Connecticut played in the Motor City Bowl, defeating Toledo 39–10.

The 1995 Carolina Panthers season was the franchise's inaugural season in the National Football League and the first under head coach Dom Capers. They went 7–9, the best debut year for any expansion franchise since the NFL's inception. The Panthers played their first season's home games at Clemson University because what would become Ericsson Stadium was still under construction after a deadline point in 1995 for scheduling Carolina's first set of NFL games.

They finished the season 3–9, 1–7 in American Athletic play to finish in a three way tie for fourth place in the East Division.
