The 2004 Mexican League season was the 80th season in the history of the Mexican League. It was contested by sixteen teams evenly divided into two zones: North and South. The season began on 16 March and ended on 3 August with the last game of the Serie del Rey. Piratas de Campeche won its second championship after defeating Saraperos de Saltillo in the Serie del Rey 4 games to 1, led by manager Francisco Estrada. [1] [2] [3] [4]
Prior to the beginning of the season three teams were replaced. Rieleros de Aguascalientes bought the Cafeteros de Córdoba franchise, Tuneros de San Luis took over Broncos de Reynosa and Toros de Tijuana replaced Tecolotes de los Dos Laredos. The number of games also changed from the previous season, from 113 to 100 per team. [5]

Estadio Francisco I. Madero is a stadium in Saltillo, Mexico. It is primarily used for baseball and is the home field of the Saraperos de Saltillo. It holds 11,000 people, and features a video screen measuring 14 meters high by 22 meters wide. The stadium is named after Coahuila native Francisco I. Madero who served as President of Mexico from 1911 to 1913.
Estadio Nelson Barrera Romellón is a stadium in Campeche, Mexico. It is primarily used for baseball, and is the home field of the Piratas de Campeche Mexican League baseball team. It holds 4,190 people. It is named for Campeche native and Mexican League home run and RBI record setter Nelson Barrera. It was built in the same location as the former Estadio Venustiano Carranza, which had served as the home field for the Pirates from 1980 through 1997. For the 1998 through the 2000 seasons the Pirates played out of the 3,000 seat Estadio Leandro Dominguez in the Santa Lucia neighborhood of the city of Campeche. Estadio Nelson Barrera Romellón was opened on 22 May 2001 with a victory of the Pirates over the visiting Olmecas de Tabasco.

Nelson Barrera Romellón was a Mexican professional baseball player, who at the time of his death led the Mexican League in career home runs (455) and RBIs (1,927). He was nicknamed El Almirante.

The Saraperos de Saltillo are a professional baseball team in the Mexican League. Their home ballpark is the Estadio de Béisbol Francisco I. Madero in Saltillo, Coahuila. They have won three championships. The 1979 Saraperos were recognized as one of the 100 greatest minor league teams of all time.

He made his professional debut in 1986 and played 23 seasons in the Mexican League and 17 seasons in the Mexican Pacific League (LMP). He retired in 2008 and started his career as manager in 2013 with the Tigres de Quintana Roo. Vizcarra won four Mexican League titles as player and has won seven titles as manager, making him the winningest manager in Mexican baseball in recent years.

Jorge Fuentes Fleitas is a Cuban baseball manager. He is the winningest manager in Cuban baseball having won five Cuban National Series in 1982, 1985, 1987, 1988 and 1997 and five Selective Series with Pinar del Río. As manager of the Cuban national team he won two Olympic gold medals in Barcelona 1992 and Atlanta 1996 and three Baseball World Cups in 1988, 1990 and 1994 as well as other continental and regional titles.
