The 2005 FIBA Africa Basketball Club Championship (20th edition), was an international basketball tournament held in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, from December 13 to 22, 2007. The tournament, organized by FIBA Africa and hosted by Abidjan Basket Club, was contested by 7 teams in a preliminary round robin system followed by a knockout stage by the top four teams.
The tournament was won by Abidjan Basket Club from Ivory Coast.

Richard Dacoury is a former French professional basketball player. He retired in 1998, as the basketball player who won the most French League titles during his career, with 9. Dacoury is considered to be one the greatest players in French basketball history. He had his jersey number 7 retired by Limoges, in October 2010.
The Ivory Coast men's national basketball team is the men's basketball side that represents Ivory Coast in international competition. The team competes regularly in the African Championship and is administered by the Fédération Ivoirienne de Basket-Ball.
The Tunisia men's national basketball team, nicknamed The Eagles of Carthage, represents Tunisia in international basketball. The team is governed by the Tunisia Basketball Federation (FTBB). To date, she has taken part in the regional championship the AfroBasket 23 times. In terms of the number of successful performances, it is inferior to the traditionally strong teams of Senegal, Côte d'Ivoire, and Egypt. In 2011, the Tunisian national team became the champion of Africa for the first time in its history, defeating the Angola team in the AfroBasket 2011 final. The team's previous success was silver at the home Africa Championship 1965. The team also won bronze medals in the 1970, 1974, 2009 and 2015 competitions.
The AfroBasket Women is the women's basketball continental championship of Africa, played biennially under the auspices of FIBA, the world governing body for basketball, and the African zone thereof. The tournament also serves to qualify teams for participation in the quadrennial FIBA Women's World Cup and the Olympic Games.
The Senegal women's national basketball team is the national basketball team representing Senegal at world and continental basketball competitions for women. It is administered by the Fédération Sénégalaise de Basket-Ball.
Football is the most popular sport in Ivory Coast. The national team won the Africa Cup of Nations in Senegal in 1992. In 2006 they participated in the 2006 World Cup in Germany. The youth national teams have also done well in world championships, and the clubs from Ivory Coast have won several continental titles. The Ivory Coast national team won a second African cup of nations in 2015.
Mouloukou Souleyman Diabate, commonly known as Solo Diabate, is an Ivorian basketball player for Petro de Luanda of the Basketball Africa League.
Kinidinnin Stéphane Konaté Sornan is an Ivorian retired basketball player. He played the majority of his career for the ABC Fighters and for the Ivory Coast national team. He is nicknamed "El Jefe".
AfroBasket 2011 was the 26th FIBA Africa Championship, played under the auspices of the Fédération Internationale de Basketball, the basketball sport governing body, and the African zone thereof. At stake is the berth allocated to Africa in the 2012 Summer Olympics basketball tournament. The tournament was scheduled to be hosted by Côte d'Ivoire, with games to be played in Abidjan. However, in 2011 Madagascar was chosen as host replacement due to a political crisis in Côte d'Ivoire.
AfroBasket 2013 was the 27th FIBA Africa Championship, played under the rules of FIBA, the world governing body for basketball, and the FIBA Africa thereof. The tournament was hosted by Ivory Coast from August 20 to 31, all games were played at the Palais des Sports de Treichville, Abidjan.

The tournament, organized by FIBA Africa and hosted by Club Sportif d'Abidjan, was contested by 10 clubs split into 2 groups, the first four of which qualifying for the knock-out stage.
Joris Ambroise Bruno Bado, is a Burkinabé professional basketball player. He currently plays for the Basket Club Montbrison Sports Club of the NM2 in France. Bado is one of Burkina Faso's most prominent basketball figures.

Abidjan Basket Club Fighters, commonly known as ABC Fighters, is an Ivorian basketball club based in the city of Abidjan. Founded in 1997, the team is the most successful men teams in the country, with 19 national championships won, and one continental FIBA Africa Champions Cup in 2005. The home arena of the team is the Palais des Sports de Treichville.
The Ivorian Basketball Championship is the premier basketball league for clubs in Ivory Coast. The league consist out of ten teams. The most notable team in the league's history is ABC Fighters, who won 21 titles.

The qualification for the 2023 BAL season, also known as Road to BAL 2023, was the 3rd edition of the qualifying tournaments for the Basketball Africa League. The tournaments were organised by FIBA Africa and are held from 10 October to 27 November 2022. The format was similar to the previous two seasons, with a group phase and an elite 16 being held.
Nasir Salé is a Mozambican basketball coach. He is the current head of the Mozambique women's national basketball team, having been the head coach since the 2007 FIBA Africa Championship for Women. He was the coach of the team when they had their first ever qualification to the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup in 2014. He also organized basketball training camps in Ivory Coast with the Ivory Coast men's national basketball team. In 2020, he became head coach of Clube Ferroviário de Maputo's women's basketball team.
