The 2009 FIBA Africa Basketball Club Championship (24th edition), was an international basketball tournament held in Kigali, Rwanda, from December 13 to 22, 2009. The tournament, organized by FIBA Africa, and hosted by APR, was contested by 9 clubs split into 2 groups, the first four of which qualifying for the knock-out stage, quarter-finals, semifinals and final.
The tournament was won by Primeiro de Agosto from Angola, thus defending its title.

The FIBA Basketball World Cup is an international basketball competition between the senior men's national teams of the members of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), the sport's global governing body. It takes place every four years and is considered the flagship event of FIBA.

Founded in 1997, the team is the most successful men teams in the country, with 19 national championships won, and one continental FIBA Africa Champions Cup in 2005. The home arena of the team is the Palais des Sports de Treichville.
