The 2007 FIBA Africa Basketball Club Championship (22nd edition), was an international basketball tournament held in the cities of Cabinda (Group A), Huambo (Group B) and Luanda (Knockout stage), Angola, from December 13 to 22, 2007. The tournament, organized by FIBA Africa, and hosted by Clube Desportivo Primeiro de Agosto, was contested by 12 teams split into 2 groups of 6, the first four of which qualifying for the knock-out stage.

Mário “Marito” Correia is a Cape Verdean professional basketball player. He played for Primeiro de Agosto at the Angolan Basketball League until 2014, before being struck by injury. Correia’s early introduction to basketball started in the District Sports Association Kwame Nkrumah abbreviated to ADESBA-KN. Correia is currently the captain of the Cape Verde national basketball team and helped Cape Verde to a bronze medal at the FIBA Africa Championship 2007, qualifying for a wildcard tournament for the 2008 Summer Olympics.
Clube Desportivo Primeiro de Agosto is an Angolan men's basketball team based in Luanda. The team is part of the multi-sports club with the same name. The club is attached to the Angolan Armed Forces which is its main sponsor. The team competes at the local level at the Luanda Provincial Basketball Championship and at the BIC Basket. In the past, it has played in the Africa Basketball League competitions.

The 2019 FIBA Africa Basketball League was the 33nd edition of FIBA Africa's premier club Basketball tournament and the 1st under the new format and new name. The season saw an expansion from twelve to sixteen teams.
Group C of the 2018–19 Africa Basketball League was the group stage of the 2018–19 Africa Basketball League for Al Ahly, Ferroviário da Beira, Primeiro de Agosto and REG BBC. Each team played each other once, for a total of three games per team, with all games played at the Prince Abdallah Al Faisal Sports Hall in Cairo. After all of the games were played, the two teams with the best records qualified for the final-eight round.
