Casey Dellacqua is a retired Australian professional tennis player and current commentator. Her best singles results on the WTA Tour have been semifinal appearances at the 2012 Texas Tennis Open and 2014 Birmingham Classic, a quarterfinal finish at the 2014 Indian Wells Masters and fourth round appearances at the 2008 Australian Open, the 2014 Australian Open and the 2014 US Open; she also won 22 ITF singles titles.

It was Świątek's first WTA 1000 singles title, and the 13 points Świątek lost in the championship match is the fewest on record in a WTA 1000 final; Serena Williams previously held the record, from the 2015 Miami Open final. This was the first WTA singles final to be resolved with a 'double bagel' scoreline since Simona Halep defeated Anastasija Sevastova at the 2016 Bucharest Open, and was just the tenth such final in WTA history. With the win, Świątek broke into the top 10 of the WTA rankings for the first time.
Defending champion Hsieh Su-wei and her partner, Elise Mertens, defeated Veronika Kudermetova and Elena Vesnina in the final, 3–6, 7–5, 9–7, to win the ladies' doubles tennis title at the 2021 Wimbledon Championships. The pair saved two championship points in the final en route to winning their first major together.
