The 2009 1000 km of Algarve (1000 km do Algarve) was the third round of the 2009 Le Mans Series season. It took place at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, Portugal, and was held over the night starting on 1 August 2009 and ending in the early morning of 2 August.
Portugal, officially the Portuguese Republic, is a country located mostly on the Iberian Peninsula in southwestern Europe. It is the westernmost sovereign state of mainland Europe. It is bordered to the west and south by the Atlantic Ocean and to the north and east by Spain. Its territory also includes the Atlantic archipelagos of the Azores and Madeira, both autonomous regions with their own regional governments.

The 2007 1000km of Nürburgring was the third round of the 2007 Le Mans Series season. It took place on 1 July 2007, at the Nürburgring, Germany.
The 2007 1000km of Spa was the fourth round of the 2007 Le Mans Series season. It took place at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium, on 19 August 2007.
The 2007 1000 km of Silverstone was the fifth round of the 2007 Le Mans Series season. It took place at the Silverstone Circuit, United Kingdom, on 16 September 2007.
The 2008 1000 km of Catalunya was the opening round of the 2008 Le Mans Series season. It took place at the Circuit de Catalunya, Spain, on 6 April 2008.
The 2008 1000 km of Nürburgring was the fourth round of the 2008 Le Mans Series season. It took place at the Nürburgring, Germany, on 17 August 2008.
The 2009 Le Mans Series season was the sixth season of Automobile Club de l'Ouest's Le Mans Series. It was contested over five events between 5 April and 13 September 2009.
The 2009 1000 km of Catalunya was the opening round of the 2009 Le Mans Series season. It took place at the Circuit de Catalunya in Montmeló, Spain on 5 April 2009. Aston Martin Racing won overall on their debut of the Lola-Aston Martin B09/60, while Lola also secured the LMP2 win with Racing Box. The GT1 category was won by the IPB Spartak Racing Lamborghini, while Team Felbermayr-Proton's Porsche led GT2.
The 2009 1000 km of Spa was the second round of the 2009 Le Mans Series season. It took place at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium, on 10 May 2009. Several teams used Spa as a test prior to the 24 Hours of Le Mans, including eventual winners Team Peugeot and Team Essex Porsche, as well as the Jetalliance Racing Aston Martin.
The 2009 1000 km of Okayama was the inaugural event of Automobile Club de l'Ouest's (ACO) Asian Le Mans Series. It was held at the Okayama International Circuit, Japan and feature two 500 km races held on 30 October and 1 November 2009. The winning teams in each of the four categories earned an automatic invitation to the 2010 24 Hours of Le Mans. A second Asian Le Mans Series event, scheduled for the Shanghai International Circuit, China, on 7 and 8 November was cancelled by the ACO due to economic circumstances. The race weekend is being shared with the World Touring Car Championship's Race of Japan.
The 2009 ADAC 1000 km-Rennen Nürburgring was the fourth round of the 2009 Le Mans Series season. It took place at the Nürburgring GP-Strecke, Nürburg, Germany, on 23 August 2009. Aston Martin Racing, with third entry AMR Eastern Europe, swept the overall podium for this race, led by the No. 007 of Jan Charouz, Tomáš Enge, and Stefan Mücke. Quifel ASM Team led the LMP2 category for the second straight race, while the Larbre Compétition Saleen outlasted its only competition in GT1. The No. 77 Team Felbermayr-Proton Porsche won their third race of the season.
The 2009 Autosport 1000 km of Silverstone was the fifth and final round of the 2009 Le Mans Series season. It took place at the Silverstone Circuit, England, on 13 September 2009. The race was won from pole position by Olivier Panis and Nicolas Lapierre for Team Oreca, while the third-place finishing Aston Martin of Jan Charouz, Tomáš Enge and Stefan Mücke won the LMP1 championship. Speedy Racing Team Sebah won their first race in the LMP2 category while the ASM Team failed to finish but were able to win their championship. First-time LMS entrant Gigawave Motorsport led the GT1 category while JMW Motorsport won in GT2. Team Felbermayr-Proton secured the GT2 class championship by finishing in seventh in their class.
The 2010 Le Mans Series season was the seventh season of Automobile Club de l'Ouest's Le Mans Series. It featured five events between 11 April and 12 September 2010. For the first time in 2010, Formula Le Mans (FLM) cars were run in a fifth class in the series, running alongside Le Mans Prototype cars and GT cars, rather than as a support series. It was also the final season when GT1 cars were allowed to run in the series.
The 2010 1000 km of Spa was the second round of the 2010 Le Mans Series season. It took place at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps on 9 May 2010.
The 2010 1000 km of Algarve was the third round of the 2010 Le Mans Series season. It took place at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve on 17 July 2010.
The 2010 1000 km of Hungaroring was the fourth round of the 2010 Le Mans Series season. It took place at the Hungaroring, Hungary on 22 August 2010. It was the first time a Le Mans Series event took place at the Hungarian track.
The 2010 Autosport 1000 km of Silverstone was the fifth and final round of the 2010 Le Mans Series season and the inaugural race of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup. It took place at Silverstone Circuit on 12 September. Manufacturers in the LMP1 and GT2 categories were eligible to compete for points in the ILMC, and designated teams in all categories except Formula Le Mans also competed for an ILMC title.
The 2010 1000 km of Zhuhai was an auto race held on 5–7 November 2010 at the Zhuhai International Circuit in Zhuhai, China. The 1000 km of Zhuhai was the first race in China to be run under Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO) regulations. The race served as the final round of the 2010 Intercontinental Le Mans Cup. Peugeot won the race and secured the Team and Manufacturer titles in the Intercontinental Cup, defeating Audi. Ferrari and AF Corse also secured the GT2 Intercontinental Cup, despite finishing third in the class behind the BMW Team Schnitzer entry.
The 1000 Kilometres of Algarve was an endurance race for sports cars, held at Autódromo Internacional do Algarve in Portugal in 2009 and 2010.
