2011 Chinese Professional Baseball League season

The 2011 Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) season began on March 19 in Kaohsiung County when the defending champion Lamigo Monkeys played host to the Uni-President 7-Eleven Lions. The season concluded in late October with the Uni-President 7-Eleven Lions defeating the Lamigo Monkeys in Game 7 of the Taiwan Series.

Competition

Four teams, the Lamigo Monkeys, Uni-President 7-Eleven Lions, Sinon Bulls and Brother Elephants will contest the CPBL, the highest level of professional baseball played in Taiwan. The season is divided into two halves, with each team playing sixty games in each half. The winners for each half-season plus the non-winner with the best overall record will qualify for the playoffs. In the event that the same team wins both halves, the next two teams with the best overall records will advance.

Participants

The Lions and the Monkeys played each other in 40 regular season games, and the Monkeys had the upper hand with 21 wins, 18 losses, and one tied game. The two teams also played each other in the 2006 Taiwan Series and 2007 Taiwan Series; the Monkeys defeated the Lions in 2006, but the Lions claimed the title in 2007.

The Rakuten Monkeys, formerly First Financial Holdings Agan, La New Bears and then the Lamigo Monkeys (Lamigo桃猿), are a professional baseball team in the Chinese Professional Baseball League in Taiwan. Hsu Ming-chieh

Hsu Ming-Chieh, born December 1, 1976 in Kaohsiung County is a baseball pitcher currently playing for Chinese Professional Baseball League's Lamigo Monkeys in Taiwan. He previously played for Nippon Professional Baseball's Saitama Seibu Lions and Orix Buffaloes. He is known for his Shuuto (two-seamer).

2008 Asia Series

The 2008 Asia Series was contested on November 13–16 by the champions of Nippon Professional Baseball's Japan Series, the Korea Baseball Organization's Korean Series, Chinese Professional Baseball League's Taiwan Series, and the championship of the China Baseball League of the People's Republic of China. In 2008, it was the first time that the champion of the China Baseball League participates in instead of the all-star team China Stars. The winning team will receive ¥50 million yen, the second place team will receive ¥30 million yen, and the other teams will receive ¥10 million yen each. All games were held in Tokyo Dome, Tokyo, Japan. The Saitama Seibu Lions defeated the Uni-President 7-Eleven Lions in the title game to win the championship for Japan. Outfielder Tomoaki Satoh was named the MVP of the series.

CPBL Home Run Derby is generally held before the day of the CPBL All-Star Game.

2008 Taiwan Series

The 2008 Taiwan Series was played by the Uni-President 7-Eleven Lions, team that placed first in the all-season standing, and the Brother Elephants, wild card winner who advanced to Taiwan Series by defeating La New Bears in the Playoff Series. The Lions defeated the Elephants four games to three and won the title and went on to represent Taiwan in the 2008 Asia Series.

2009 Taiwan Series

The 2009 Taiwan Series was played by Uni-President 7-Eleven Lions and Brother Elephants, winners of the first and second half-seasons. After seven games, the Lions defeated the Elephants four games to three and won the title.

The 2011 Taiwan Series was played by Uni-President 7-Eleven Lions and Lamigo Monkeys, winners of the first and second half-seasons. The Lions won the title of 2011 Taiwan Series four games to one and will represent Taiwan in the 2011 Asia Series.

2013 Asia Series

The 2013 Asia Series was the seventh and final edition of the Asia Series, the premier Asian club baseball tournament, and the ninth time national champions from Asian leagues have competed against each other. The tournament was held in Taichung and Taoyuan, Taiwan, starting on 15 November with the final held on 20 November.

Wang Po-jung

Wang Po-jung, nicknamed "The King (Dawang)", is a Taiwanese professional baseball outfielder for the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters of Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB). He previously played for the Lamigo Monkeys of the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) from 2015 through 2018.

The 2020 Chinese Professional Baseball League season is the 31st season of the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL). The season was scheduled to begin on 14 March, earlier than previous seasons in order to free up time for the CPBL players to participate in the final qualifying tournament of the 2020 Summer Olympics. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, opening day was delayed. On 1 April, the CPBL announced that the season would begin on 11 April with last season's champions the Rakuten Monkeys hosting runners-up the CTBC Brothers, but behind closed doors with no fans attending.
