The 2011 LSU Tigers baseball team represented Louisiana State University in the NCAA Division I baseball season of 2011. The Tigers played their home games in the new Alex Box Stadium, which opened in 2009.

Contents

The team was coached by Paul Mainieri who was in his fifth season at LSU. In the previous season, the Tigers failed to defend their 2009 National Title; however, the Tigers were able to successfully repeat as SEC Tournament Champions. Overall, the Tigers finished 41–22, 14–16 in the SEC.

The Tigers finished the season 9–4, 5–3 in SEC play, including a loss in the Capital One Bowl, 19–17, against Penn State.

SEC TV was a syndicated package featuring live broadcasts of college football and basketball events from the Southeastern Conference. It was owned and operated by ESPN Regional Television and shown in more than 50 percent of households in the United States, mostly Southeastern United States markets. SEC TV's football games typically aired in the noon eastern slot that was former home to the Jefferson-Pilot/Raycom Sports SEC game of the week. Games were shown locally on broadcast stations, regional sports networks, as well as on ESPN GamePlan, ESPN Full Court, and WatchESPN.

The 2011 LSU Tigers football team represented Louisiana State University in the 2011 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Tigers were led by seventh-year head coach Les Miles and played their home games at Tiger Stadium. They were a member of the Western Division of the Southeastern Conference. They finished the season 13–1, 8–0 in SEC play to be Western Division champions. They represented the division in the SEC Championship Game where they defeated Eastern Division champion Georgia 42–10 be crowned SEC champions. They finished the season ranked #1 in the final BCS poll to earn a spot in the BCS National Championship Game vs #2 Alabama. The Tigers, who had defeated Alabama 9–6 in the regular season, lost to the Crimson Tide 21–0. It was the first time a team was ever shut out in a BCS game.

The 1997 LSU Tigers baseball team won a second consecutive NCAA championship at the College World Series, and the fourth overall for the school. The 1997 team put on an impressive display of power, hitting an NCAA record 188 home runs, including one in each of the 70 games they played that season.

The 2016 Auburn Tigers football team represented Auburn University in the 2016 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Tigers played their home games at Jordan–Hare Stadium in Auburn, Alabama and competed in the Western Division of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). They were led by fourth-year head coach Gus Malzahn. They finished the season 8–5, 5–3 in SEC play to finish in a tie for second place in the Western Division. They were invited to the Sugar Bowl where they lost to Oklahoma.
