The 2012 Missouri Western Griffons football team represented Missouri Western University during the 2012 NCAA Division II football season. [1] The Griffons played their home games on Craig Field in Spratt Stadium in St. Joseph, Missouri, as they have done since 1970. 2012 was the 43rd season in school history. The Griffons were led by the sixteenth-year head coach, Jerry Partridge. [2] Missouri Western has been a member of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association since 1989. [3]

Jerral Wayne Jones Sr. is an American businessman and the owner, president, and general manager of the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League (NFL). He bought the team from Bum Bright in 1989.
Missouri Western State University is a public university in St. Joseph, Missouri. As of 2023, it enrolled 3,815 students.
Tom Smith was the head men's basketball coach at Valparaiso University from 1980 until 1988. Smith played basketball at Horace Mann High School in Gary, Indiana and collegiately for Valparaiso. During his leadership, the Crusaders joined the AMCU in 1982. The 1983–1984 season was the first in Crusader history to appear in a conference tournament, losing to Western Illinois. His career record with the Crusaders was 84–138. Tom coached 25 of his 38 seasons at Missouri Western, where he compiled a 448–279 record. Smith coached the Griffons to 10 NCAA Division II national tournaments, five MIAA regular season championships and four MIAA postseason tournament titles. Smith has also been named MIAA Coach-of-the-year twice while he was at MWSU. Under Smith's guidance, Western has produced an MIAA Most valuable player, an MIAA tournament MVP, 45 All-MAA selections, six All-Region picks, and three NCAA All-Americans. He currently has a .586 overall winning percentage at the college level, ranking him in the top 20 active coaches, and also is the winningest coach in Missouri Western history.
Dave Dallas is an American football coach and former player. He was the head football coach at Kansas Wesleyan University until he resigned after completion of the 2013 season. From 1989 to 1996, Dallas was the head football coach at Ottawa University. From 2014 to 2016 he was the head coach at North County High School in Bonne Terre, Missouri.
The Emporia State Hornets football program is a college football team that represents Emporia State University, often referred to as "Emporia State" or "ESU". The team competes as a member of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA), which is a conference in the Division II of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The program began in 1897 and has fifteen conference titles. On December 15, 2006, former Hornet quarterback Garin Higgins became the team's 24th head coach, following the resignation of Dave Wiemers. Home games are played on Jones Field at Welch Stadium, located on the Emporia State University campus in Emporia, Kansas. In August 2017, Hero Sports named Emporia State the "best football team in Kansas, regardless of division."

He has also been a member of the Minnesota Vikings, BC Lions, Hudson Valley Fort and Logan Wolverines.
Jerry Partridge is an American college football coach and former player. He is the assistant head football coach and safeties coach for the University of Tennessee at Martin, a position he has held since 2023. He was the head football coach at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, Missouri, a position he had held from 1997 to 2016. Before becoming head coach at Missouri Western in 1997, Partridge assisted various teams from 1986 to 1996. Partridge was a graduate assistant for the 1988 Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team, who won the national championship.

The Griffons were led by twentieth-year head coach, Jerry Partridge. Missouri Western has been a member of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association since 1989.
Matt Williamson is an American football coach and former player. He served as the head football coach at Missouri Western State University in Saint Joseph, Missouri from 2017 to 2022. After playing four years for the Missouri Western Griffons, Williams served as the team's graduate assistant for the 1998 season. In 1999, Williamson left for a year at Arkansas–Monticello before returning to Missouri Western where he served in various roles as a defensive coach from 2000 to 2006. In 2007, Williamson left for Central Arkansas to become the defensive coordinator for three seasons, before heading to Stephen F. Austin to become their defensive coordinator. In December 2016, Williamson was named the sixth head coach at Missouri Western. Williamson was relieved of his duties at Missouri Western the day after the last game of the 2022 season. He compiled a record of 31–28 as the head coach for the Griffons.
Jonathan James Owens is an American football safety for the Chicago Bears of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Missouri Western, and signed with the Arizona Cardinals as an undrafted free agent in 2018. He has also played for the Houston Texans and Green Bay Packers.

He served as the interim head football coach at Central Missouri State University for the final three games of 1996 season and as the head football coach at William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri from 1997 to 2000, compiling a career college football coaching record of 17–25.
