The 2012 U-20 Copa Libertadores (known as the 2012 Copa Movistar Libertadores Sub-20 for sponsorship reasons) was the second edition of this U-20 club competition. Players born on or after 1 January 1992 were eligible to compete. The tournament was played in Lima, Peru.

Qualification

In addition to the three clubs of the host nation, nine clubs qualified from the remaining nine football associations of CONMEBOL. Also, one team from the Mexican Football Federation and one from the Spanish Football Federation. [2] [3]

Club Alianza Lima, is a Peruvian professional sports club based in La Victoria District of Lima, Peru. The club was founded under the name of Sport Alianza on 15 February 1901 by working-class youth in the Chacaritas neighborhood of Lima. It is widely known for having one of the most historical and successful football teams in Peru; they have won a total of 21 official league titles of the Peruvian Primera División and are currently the oldest team playing in that competition, since the club was founded in 1901. It is considered the most popular club in Perú.

The 1964 Copa de Campeones de América was the fifth edition of South America's premier club football tournament. For the first time since its inception, every member of CONMEBOL was represented in the competition. Deportivo Italia became the first club from Venezuela to participate, providing an unexpectedly impressive performance after eliminating Bahia of Brazil in the preliminary round and beating Barcelona in Guayaquil.

The 1995 Torneo Descentralizado was the 80th season of Peruvian football. A total of 16 teams competed in the tournament. The season began on March 4 and concluded on December 27 with the victory of Universitario de Deportes over Alianza Lima for the second berth to the 1996 Copa Libertadores. Sporting Cristal successfully defended its national title after finishing 12 points ahead of Alianza Lima and Universitario.

This page details the records and statistics of the Copa Libertadores. The Copa Libertadores is an international premier club tournament played annually by the top football clubs of South America. It includes 3–5 teams from all ten CONMEBOL members plus Mexico, whose clubs are sometimes invited as guests to the tournament. It is now held from January to November and it consists of eight stages.

The 1966 Copa Libertadores de América was the seventh edition of the competition, the premier South American club football tournament, organized by CONMEBOL. Colombia and Brazil did not send their representatives. This edition became the first club competition of the world to include the runners-up of each of its participating association. Despite the fact that Colombian and Brazilian clubs did not participate, this tournament saw a record 95 matches being played out to determine this year's champion.

The 2011 U-20 Copa Libertadores was the first edition of this U-20 club competition. Players born on or after 1 January 1990 were eligible to compete. The tournament was originally going to be hosted in November 2010, however, because of the postponement, players born in 1990 were allowed to play, otherwise only players born after 1 January 1991 would have been eligible.

The Torneo Descentralizado is the national Peruvian professional league for association football clubs. At the top of the Peruvian football league system, it is the country's primary football competition. The responsibility for its organization lies within the Asociación Deportiva de Fútbol Profesional. Contested by 16 clubs, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Segunda División and the Copa Peru. Seasons run from February to December but the competition format varies from season to season. Most games are played on Saturdays and Sundays, with a few games played during weekday evenings. The 2018 Copa CONMEBOL Libertadores was the 59th edition of the CONMEBOL Libertadores, South America's premier club football tournament organized by CONMEBOL.

The 2019 Copa Sudamericana second stage was played from 21 to 30 May 2019. A total of 32 teams competed in the second stage to decide the 16 places in the final stages of the 2019 Copa Sudamericana.

The 2023 Copa Libertadores qualifying stages were played from 7 February to 16 March 2023. A total of 19 teams competed in the qualifying stages to decide four of the 32 places in the group stage of the 2023 Copa Libertadores.

The 2023 Copa Libertadores group stage was played from 4 April to 29 June 2023. A total of 32 teams competed in the group stage to decide the 16 places in the final stages of the 2023 Copa Libertadores.

The 2023 U-20 Copa CONMEBOL Libertadores was the 7th edition of the U-20 CONMEBOL Libertadores, South America's premier under-20 club football tournament organized by CONMEBOL. It was held in Chile from 1 to 16 July 2023.
