The 2013 1. divisjon (women) is the second tier of Norwegian women's football in 2013. The season kicked off on 13 April 2013, and was finished on 19 October 2013.

The 1. divisjon is the second highest division in women's football in Norway. It was founded in 1984. Between 1984 and 1995 it served as the first tier. 1. divisjon was replaced as a first tier by the Eliteserien which in turn was replaced by the Toppserien in 2000. It continued as a second tier from 1996 and onwards.

Norway, officially the Kingdom of Norway, is a Nordic country in Northwestern Europe whose territory comprises of the western and northernmost portion of the Scandinavian Peninsula; the remote island of Jan Mayen and the archipelago of Svalbard are also part of the Kingdom of Norway. The Antarctic Peter I Island and the sub-Antarctic Bouvet Island are dependent territories and thus not considered part of the kingdom. Norway also lays claim to a section of Antarctica known as Queen Maud Land.

Association football, more commonly known as football or soccer, is a team sport played with a spherical ball between two teams of eleven players. It is played by 250 million players in over 200 countries and dependencies, making it the world's most popular sport. The game is played on a rectangular field called a pitch with a goal at each end. The object of the game is to score by moving the ball beyond the goal line into the opposing goal.

2012 champions Avaldsnes were promoted to the Toppserien at the end of the 2012 season. They were replaced by Fart, who were relegated from the 2012 Toppserien. Alta and Voss were relegated at the end of the 2012 season after finishing in the bottom two places of the table. They were replaced by the two playoff-winners Kaupanger and Lyn. In January 2013, Toppserien-club Kattem withdrew from the league. Their place in the 2013 Toppserien was first offered to Fart, who declined, and then to Medkila, who accepted.^[4] Alta were then offered Medkila's place in the 2013 1. divisjon, but declined.^[5] The offer then went to Voss, who accepted, and took their place in the 2013 1. divisjon despite finishing last in 2012. Subsequently, Sola withdrew their team from the 2013 1. divisjon. The football association decided not to offer Sola's place to another team. The season will therefore be played with only 11 teams.^[6]

Avaldsnes Idrettslag is a Norwegian sports club from Avaldsnes, Karmøy, Rogaland. It was founded on 16 June 1937. The club has sections for football and handball.

The Toppserien is the top level of women's association football in Norway. It was founded in 1984.

Fotballaget Fart is a Norwegian football club based in Vang outside Hamar. The club is most noted for their women's team which played in Toppserien in 2008 and 2012. Their home matches are played at Fartbana. Norway international footballers Thorstein Helstad and Kristin Bekkevold started their careers at Fart.

IF Fløya is a Norwegian football club from the city of Tromsø. The club was founded on 24 June 1922 and named for the Fløya mountain which overlooks Tromsø centre.

FK Fortuna Ålesund is a Norwegian women's football club from Ålesund that currently competes in 2. divisjon, the third tier of Norwegian football. It is named after Fortuna of Roman mythology.
