The 2014 Big East Conference men's Futbol season was the second soccer season for the recently realigned Big East Conference. Including the history of the original Big East Conference, this was the 19th season of men's soccer under the "Big East Conference" name. [1]
The defending champions were the Marquette Golden Eagles who defeated the Providence Friars by a score of 3 – 2 in the 2013 Big East Men's Soccer Tournament final. The Creighton Bluejays claimed the 2014 Big East Conference Regular Season Championship after defeating Providence by a score of 3 – 0 on November 7, 2014, and posting a conference record of 7 wins, 1 loss, and 1 tie. [2] The 2014 Big East Men's Soccer Tournament was won by the Providence Friars who defeated the Xavier Musketeers in the Big East final. [3]

Held from November 11–16, 2014 at PPL Park in Chester, Pennsylvania, the 2014 Big East Men's Soccer Tournament determined the Big East Conference Champion, and the conference's automatic berth into the 2014 NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship. Seeding for the tournament is based on regular season conference records. The participating teams according to seed were: #1 Creighton, #2 Xavier, #3 Georgetown, #4 Providence, #5 Villanova, and #6 Marquette. Ed Cooley is an American college basketball coach and currently the head coach of the Georgetown Hoyas men's basketball program. Cooley held the same position at Providence College from 2011 to 2023, and Fairfield University from 2006 to 2011. In 2022, he received national honors as the Naismith College Coach of the Year. Additionally, he received the inaugural 2010 Ben Jobe National Coach of the Year Award.
The Creighton Bluejays men's soccer team represents Creighton University in NCAA men's Division I soccer competitions. They compete in the Big East Conference and have risen to prominence in collegiate men's soccer in the last few decades having gone to the NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Tournament in 22 of the previous 23 seasons, going back to 1992, with five appearances in the College Cup semifinals and one appearance in the National Championship Match. In conference play, the Bluejays have won 13 conference regular season championships and 13 conference tournament championships; the most recent being the 2014 Big East Conference Regular Season Championship. Creighton is the only soccer program in the nation to have at least one athlete taken in every Major League Soccer (MLS) draft from 1996 to 2014. They are currently coached by Johnny Torres.

The 2017–18 Xavier Musketeers men's basketball team represented Xavier University during the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season as a member of the Big East Conference. Led by ninth-year head coach Chris Mack, they played their home games at the Cintas Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. They finished the season 29–6, 15–3 in Big East play to win the Big East championship. In the Big East tournament, they defeated St. John's before losing to Providence in the semifinals. They received an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament as a No. 1 seed in the West region. In the First Round, they defeated Texas Southern before being upset by Florida State in the Second Round.

They received an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament as the No. 8 seed in the South Region. There the Bluejays lost in the first round to Kansas State.

For the first time since the reconfigured Big East formed, Villanova failed to win the regular-season title, with Xavier claiming the crown.
The 2017–18 Villanova Wildcats men's basketball team represented Villanova University in the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. Led by head coach Jay Wright in his 17th year, the Wildcats played their home games at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania as members of the Big East Conference. The Wildcats finished the season 36–4, 14–4 in Big East play to finish in second place. They defeated Marquette, Butler, and Providence to win the Big East tournament championship. As a result, they received the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament as the No. 1 seed in the East region, their third No.1 seed in four years. They defeated Radford, Alabama, West Virginia, and Texas Tech to advance to the Final Four for the second time in three years. In the National Semifinal, they defeated Kansas before defeating Michigan in the National Championship game to win their second national championship in three years. They won every game of the tournament by a double-digit margin and the team's tournament run is widely considered the most dominant ever along with being called among the best seasons of all time.

The Friars, led by seventh-year head coach Ed Cooley, played their home games at the Dunkin' Donuts Center as members of the Big East Conference. They finished the season 21–14, 10–8 in Big East play to finish in a three-way tie for third place. As the No. 5 seed in the Big East tournament, they defeated Creighton and No. 1-seeded Xavier in back-to-back overtime games to advance to the championship game. In a third straight overtime game, the Friars fell to Villanova in the championship game. They received an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament as the No. 10 seed in the West region where they lost to Texas A&M in the first round.

They were the top seed based on an 8–0–1 season in conference play. The Hoyas were able to defend their crown, beating Butler in the final. This marks the third year in a row Georgetown has won the tournament.

However, they were unable to defend their crown, losing to Xavier 2–0 in the final. This is the first title in program history for Xavier, and the first for head coach Nate Lie.

The five-match tournament took place at Shaw Field in Washington, D.C. for the semifinals and finals, while the first round was hosted by the higher seeded team. The six-team single-elimination tournament consisted of three rounds based on seeding from regular season conference play. The defending champions were the Seton Hall Pirates. They were unable to defendtheir title after not qualifying for the tournament and finishing in last place in the regular season standings. Georgetown finished as tournament champions after defeating Providence 2–1 in overtime in the final. This is the fifth title in program history for Georgetown, all of which have come under Head Coach Brian Wiese. As tournament champions, Georgetown earned the Big East's automatic place in the 2021 NCAA Division I men's soccer tournament.

The six-team single-elimination tournament consisted of three rounds based on seeding from regular season conference play. The defending champions were the Georgetown Hoyas. They successfully defended their title by defeating Xavier in the final 1–0. This is the sixth title in program history for Georgetown and head coach Dave Nolan. All six of their titles have come in the last seven years and Georgetown has now won three straight titles. As tournament champions, Georgetown earned the Big East's automatic berth into the 2022 NCAA Division I women's soccer tournament.
