The 2014 Red Bull Air Race of Rovinj was the second round of the 2014 Red Bull Air Race World Championship, the ninth season of the Red Bull Air Race World Championship. [1] The event was held in Rovinj, on the Adriatic coast of Croatia.

The Red Bull Air Race, established in 2003 and created by Red Bull GmbH, is an international series of air races in which competitors have to navigate a challenging obstacle course in the fastest time. Pilots fly individually against the clock and have to complete tight turns through a slalom course consisting of pylons, known as "Air Gates".
Rovinj is a city in Croatia situated on the north Adriatic Sea with a population of 14,294 (2011). Located on the western coast of the Istrian peninsula, it is a popular tourist resort and an active fishing port. Istriot, a Romance language once widely spoken in this part of Istria, is still spoken by some of the residents. The town is officially bilingual, Italian and Croatian, hence both town names are official and equal.

Red Bull Racing is a Formula One racing team, racing under an Austrian licence and based in the United Kingdom. The team raced under a British licence from 2005 to 2006 and has raced under an Austrian licence since 2007. He lived near the airport of Budapest and became interested in flying when he was a child. From watching 1962 World Aerobatic Championships he decided to become a pilot. At 15 years of age he flew a glider for the first time. In 1976 Péter entered his first flying competition by piloting a glider and showed his talent, finishing in second place.

Yoshihide "Yoshi" Muroya is a Japanese aerobatics pilot and race pilot of the Red Bull Air Race World Championship. He started glider flight training in 1991 because it was an inexpensive way to fly. Muroya went to the United States privately to earn his airplane license at the age of twenty.
Adilson Kindelmann is a Brazilian pilot, who competes in the Red Bull Air Race World Series. Working hard since 2007 to be able to compete, Kindlemann faced five training sessions and also participated at the World Aerobatic Championship in 2009. In October of the same year, he joined the Red Bull Air Race Qualification Camp at Cassarubios, in Madrid, Spain, gaining the Super License and allowing him to start competing in the 2010 Season. Adilson Kindlemann is the first South American to compete in the Red Bull Air Race World Championship – South America is now the 6th continent represented.
