The 2009–10 Minnesota Golden Gophers women's hockey team represented the University of Minnesota during the 2009–10 NCAA Division I women's hockey season. The Golden Gophers were coached by Brad Frost in his third season and played their home games at Ridder Arena. The University of Minnesota hosted the 2010 NCAA Division I Women's Ice hockey Tournament's championship game on March 21, 2010 at Ridder Arena in Minneapolis. It marked the third time that Minneapolis hosted the Frozen Four. The Golden Gophers are a member of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association and attempted to win their fourth NCAA Women's Ice Hockey Championship.
Gisele Marie "Gigi" Marvin is an American ice hockey player for PWHL Boston of the Professional Women's Hockey League. As a member of the United States national women's ice hockey team, Marvin won a silver medal at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games and the 2014 Winter Olympics, and a gold medal at the 2018 Winter Olympics. She hails from Warroad, Minnesota.
Hilary Atwood Knight is an American ice hockey forward and captain of Boston of the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL). She is also a member of the United States women's national ice hockey team. She previously played for the Les Canadiennes de Montréal of the CWHL and the Boston Pride of the NWHL, with whom she won the inaugural Isobel Cup.

The Buckeyes attempted to win their first NCAA women's Frozen Four championship. Canadian Natalie Spooner entered her senior season with the Buckeyes. Spooner ranked second in career goals with 69 and was sixth in Buckeyes career points with 113.
Jessica "Jess" Koizumi (COY-Zoo-Mee) is an American ice hockey coach and player, currently serving as the associate head coach of the Vermont Catamounts women's ice hockey program. She won a gold medal as a member of the United States national women's ice hockey team at the 2008 IIHF Women's World Championship. During her playing career, Koizumi played with the Minnesota Whitecaps of the Western Women's Hockey League (WWHL), the Montreal Stars and the Boston Blades of the Canadian Women's Hockey League (CWHL), and the Connecticut Whale of the Premier Hockey Federation (PHF). She scored the first goal in PHF history in the league’s inaugural game, which featured the Whale facing off against the New York Riveters.
Megan Bozek is an American ice hockey player and member of the United States national team. She most recently played with the KRS Vanke Rays of the Zhenskaya Hockey League (ZhHL) during the 2020–21 season.

The defending champions returned to the Frozen Four for the sixth consecutive year by upsetting Minnesota Duluth in the opening game of the NCAA Tournament, before losing to Clarkson in the Frozen Four.
