The 2015 Assam State Premier League was the first season of the Assam State Premier League in its new format, and 8th as highest state-level league. The league was re-launched in May 2015 and was kicked off on 29 May, concluding with the final on 25 July. [1]
Karbi Anglong Morning Star FC became champion of 2015 Assam State Premier League by defeating F.C. Green Valley in the final held at KASA Stadium, Diphu. [2]
As per the new format of ASPL 2015 a total of 12 city-based clubs across Assam has been divided in Two Zonal Groups - Upper Assam Zonal Group and Lower Assam Zonal Group. At the Zonal Group Stage, each club shall play all the other 5 teams in the Group twice on Home and Away basis. At the end of the Zonal Group stage, top 4 Clubs from each group shall advance to the Final stage of ASPL 2015. The Final stage shall be played on knock-out format in Home and Away basis. Once the Zonal Group stage is over, there will be a draw for the Final stage.
ASPL has introduced few key regulations to ensure future, all round development of the game of football in the state of Assam. As per the regulations, each team can register a maximum of 3 overseas player out of which only a maximum of 2 can be included in the playing XI. Each club shall also have to register a minimum of 6 players from its defined catchment area aged not more than 25 years and 6 Indian players aged not more than 20 years. Each club has to also include a minimum of 1 Catchment player and 1 U-20 player in its Playing XI.
As per the Regulation of ASPL 2015, each club shall be responsible to organize all of its Home matches and enjoy 70% of the gate revenue generated. The clubs shall also receive fixed assistance per match for all of its Away matches from the League.
ASPL 2015 offers lucrative prize money for all the participating clubs and is the highest ever for any Club competition in the state of Assam. The clubs eliminated from the Zonal Group stage shall receive INR 100,000 each as prize money. The clubs eliminated in the quarter-final Stage shall receive INR 150,000 each. The Clubs eliminated at the semi-final stage shall receive INR 250,000 each. The runner up shall receive INR 350,000 and the ASPL 2015 Champion club shall receive a prize money of INR 500,000.
In addition, there are several other prizes on offer, such as, Golden Ball winner (Best Player), Golden Boot winner (Highest Scorer), Golden Gloves (Best Goalkeeper), Best Defender, Best Midfielder, Best Overseas Player Best U-20 Player, Best Catchment Player etc.

Kohora is a small town situated in the Golaghat district of Assam. It is the main entrance of the world-famous Kaziranga National Park. It lies on the National Highway 37(Asean Highway 1). Kohora Lies Between Nagaon And Golaghat.
Assam State Transport Corporation or ASTC is a state government owned road transport corporation of Assam, India which provides bus services within Assam and adjoining states. Assam State Transport was started as a state government department with four buses to run between Guwahati and Nagaon. Gradually the transport network of the department expanded throughout the state of Assam. The state transport department was converted to a corporation on 31 March 1970.
Furkating is the main railway junction in the Golaghat district in the state of Assam in India. It serves Golaghat town which is about 10 km away from here.
The state of Assam in India has five regional divisions, each comprising a number of districts. The person responsible for the administration of a division is designated as a Divisional Commissioner.
Assam is the main and oldest state in the North-East Region of India and as the gateway to the rest of the Seven Sister States. The land of red river and blue hills, Assam comprises three main geographical areas: the Brahmaputra Valley which stretching along the length of the Brahmaputra river, the Barak Valley extending like a tail, and the intervening Karbi Plateau and North Cachar Hills. It also shares international borders with Bhutan and Bangladesh and is very close to Myanmar. In ancient times Assam was known as Pragjyotisha or Pragjyotishpura, and Kamarupa.
Upper Assam is an administrative division of the state of Assam comprising the undivided Lakhimpur and Sivasagar districts, of the upper reaches of the Brahmaputra valley. The other divisions are: Lower Assam, North Assam and Hills and Barak Valley. The division is under the jurisdiction of a Commissioner, stationed at Jorhat.
Assam Cricket Association (ACA) is the governing body of the Cricket activities in the Assam state of India and the Assam cricket team. It is affiliated to the Board of Control for Cricket in India. The headquarters of ACA is at the Assam Cricket Association Stadium, Barsapara, Guwahati.
The All Assam Chess Association is a registered chess association of the Assam state of India. It was formed in the late 1960s by Bodiyuz Zaman from Jorhat. The first president of the association was Kamakhya Prasad Tripathi. It is affiliated with the All India Chess Federation and officially accredited by the Fédération Internationale des Échecs, (FIDE).
The Kamrup Express is a daily Express train which connects Howrah (Kolkata) in West Bengal with Dibrugarh, a major town in upper Assam. Originally the train ran between Howrah and Guwahati, hence the name. Later it was extended to Dibrugarh Town after the successful conversion of Guwahati–Lumding–Dibrugarh from meter gauge to broad gauge.Now the train has been divided in 2 pairs respectively with two routes.1.15959/60 runs Via GHY-LMG-DBRG.2.15961/62 runs via RNY-RPAN-NLP-DBRG through Bogibeel Bridge Vice-Versa. The train belongs to Northeast Frontier Railway of Indian Railways and is operated by Tinsukia division of NF Railway. The train is numbered as 15959/15960. 15961/15962
Folk dances of Assam include the Bihu and the Bagurumba, the Bhortal, the Ojapali dance. Assam is home to many groups: Muslim, Indo-Aryan, Rabha, Bodo, Dimasa, Karbi, Mising, Sonowal Kacharis, Mishmi and Tiwa (Lalung) etc. These cultures come together to create an Assamese culture. Residents of the state of Assam are known as "Axomiya" (Assamese). Most tribes have their own language, although Assamese is the primary language of the state.
Mariani Junction railway station is the major railway junction of Jorhat district in the Indian state of Assam on the Lumding–Dibrugarh section. It serves Jorhat city, Mariani and its surrounding area as well. The railway station is located at a distance of 18 km (11 mi) from Jorhat city.
Nagen Saikia is an Indian writer. He was formerly a professor of Dibrugarh University. Saikia had also been a member of the Rajya Sabha from 1986-1992 and was the vice-chairman of the Upper House from 1990-1992. Saikia started his career as a teacher and went on to serve in different reputed institutions in various categories. He also delivered lectures on various topics about Assamese literature, including in the US and England. He has published numerous literary essays, short stories, novels, books and articles, to his credit. Saikia was conferred with the Sahitya Akademi award in 1997 for his short stories collection Andharat Nizar Mukh and was honoured by the Mohan Chandra Sahitya Sabha in 1980 for Chinta aru Charcha. He was conferred the Sahitya Akademi Fellowship, the highest honour conferred by the Sahitya Akademi on the most distinguished Indian writers.
Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences, Guwahati, Assam, India is established in 2009 as per The Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences Act, 2007. The Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences is the only Health Sciences University in the North Eastern Region with its jurisdiction to the whole of Assam.
Assam – 16th largest, 15th most populous and 26th most literate state of the 28 states of the democratic Republic of India. Assam is at 14th position in life expectancy and 8th in female-to-male sex ratio. Assam is the 21st most media exposed states in India. The Economy of Assam is largely agriculture based with 69% of the population engaged in it. Growth rate of Assam's income has not kept pace with that of India's during the Post-British Era; differences increased rapidly since the 1970s. While the Indian economy grew at 6 percent per annum over the period of 1981 to 2000, the same of Assam's grew only by 3.3 percent.
Assam Gramin Vikash Bank is the only regional rural bank of Assam, India. It is under the ownership of Ministry of Finance, Government of India. The bank was formally launched on 12 January 2006 after amalgamation of Pragjyotish Gaonlia Bank, Lakhimi Gaonlia Bank, Cachar Gramin Bank and Subansiri Gaonlia Bank, which were sponsored by erstwhile United Bank of India now Punjab National Bank. As per Government of India directives for forming of state wise Regional Rural Banks Assam Gramin Vikash Bank was further amalgamated with Langpi Dehangi Rural Bank which was sponsored by State Bank of India to form present Assam Gramin Vikash Bank w.e.f 1 April 2019 without changing of the name of the newly formed entity.
The 13281 / 13282 Dibrugarh–Rajendra Nagar Weekly Express is an Express train belonging to East Central Railway zone that runs between Dibrugarh and Rajendra Nagar Terminal in India. It is currently being operated with 13281/13282 train numbers on a weekly basis.
The Brahmaputra floods refers to a catastrophic flood event that occurred in 2012 along the Brahmaputra River and its tributaries, as well as in subsequent years.
