The Assam State Premier League (ASPL) is the state-level football league in the Indian state of Assam. It is the highest state-level football league in Assam organised by the Assam Football Association, currently contested by 8 clubs. [2]

History

Assam State Premier League inaugural edition of the league started in 2008 with Assam Rifles winning its first title. After some years in 2015 the league was discontinued. But after 7 years in 2023, it was revived by Assam Football Association. [2]

The winner of Assam State Premier League gets promoted to I-League 3, and the last position team gets relegated to the Assam Club Championship. From 2015 season the league has been revamped with the new format. The teams have been divided into two zones - Upper Assam and Lower Assam. [3] The league began with the group stage on home and away basis. The top four teams from each zone qualified for the quarterfinals. [4] In 2023, Assam Football Association revived the league after a gap of 7 years. [2]

Government Model College Deithor is situated in Deithor near Deopahar Numaligarh in the Bokajan Legislative assembly of Karbi Anglong district of Assam in India. It is the second government college after Diphu Government College established under Rastriya Uchahtar Siksha Abhiyan (RUSA) of the Directorate of Higher Education, Government of Assam. It is affiliated with Dibrugarh University.

KASA Stadium or Karbi Anglong Sports Association (KASA) Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Diphu, Karbi Anglong, Assam, India. It is used mainly for football and athletics. The stadium has capacity of 9,000 spectators. The inaugural friendly match was held between the then champions of the Assam State Premier League, Karbi Anglong Morning Star FC, and Asaduzzaman FC from Bangladesh.

The 2022–23 season was the 135th competitive association football season in India. The season began in August 2022 and ended in May 2023.

United Chirang Duar Football Club is an Indian professional football club based in Runikhata, Chirang district, Bodoland, Assam. It is the first professional club from Bodoland to participate in I-League 2 qualifiers. The club was qualified to play in the tournament after beating Elevenstar Club in the qualifying round organised by Assam Football Association. It currently competes in I-League 3 and the Assam State Premier League.

The 2023–24 season was the 136th competitive association football season in India. The domestic season begins in August 2023, while the national team season commences in July 2023.

The 2023–24 Indian State leagues season represented the fifth tier of the Indian football league system, a series of state-level football tournaments played as qualifiers to determine teams for the 2024–25 I-League 3.

The 2024–25 I-League 3 was the 2nd season of the I-League 3 since its establishment in 2023. It was the fourth tier of the Indian football league system. The top six clubs have secured a place in the I-League 2, with the top four taking part in the 2024–25 I-League 2 and the remaining two sides competing in the 2025–26 I-League 2. The winner of the tournament was Diamond Harbour FC winning 1-0 against Chanmari FC.
