Bodoland Martyrs Gold Cup is a football tournament in the Bodoland Territorial Region, Assam, India, organised by Kokrajhar District Sports Association (KDSA). It is played in memory of Bodoland martyrs, who sacrificed their lives for the cause of Bodoland movement. [1]

The 21st edition of the tournament was won by United Chirang Duar FC, Runikhata by defeating Baarhoongkha Athletic Club, Kokrajhar 1–0 in the final, played at Banargaon Jaiklong Sports Club ground. They got I-League 2 qualifier spot, since the Assam State Premier League has not been held.

2017 season

The 2017 season was won by Gobinda Basumatary FC (GBFC) from Gossaigaon defeating NF Railway Sports Club, Maligaon by a scoreline of 1–0. Chuinedu Gnene scored the lone goal in the 70th minute. [2]

A trophy and cash award of Rs 1 lakh was handed over to the champion team by BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary. Doneswar Goyari, executive member of BTC handed over the runners-up trophy along with cash award of Rs 50,000 to the NF Railway team. IGP BTAD Anurag Agarwal gave away the best player of the match trophy along with a cash award of Rs 5,000 to Chuinedu Gnene of GBFC.

He is the chairperson of the Bodoland People's Front and had been the head of Bodoland Territorial Council since its inception in 2003. He won the third General Assembly Elections 2015 and formed his Government for the third time. Mohilary was the chief of the Bodo Liberation Tigers (BLT) before joining the mainstream politics in 2003.

It is one of the reputed and third oldest football tournament of Assam after Independence Day Cup and Bordoloi Trophy. Since its inception in 1955, the tournament is very popular involving some leading clubs from northeast India and rest of the country. Kolkata giants East Bengal Club, Mohammedan SC and Mohun Bagan AC, as well as Dempo SC of Goa have also competed in ATPA Shield. The coveted shield was donated and hosted by Assam Tea Planters' Association (ATPA). From 1968, the tournament has been conducted by Jorhat District Sports Association.

United Chirang Duar Football Club is an Indian professional football club based in Chirang, Bodoland, Assam. It is the first professional club from Bodoland to participate in I-League 2 qualifiers. The club was qualified to play in the tournament after beating Elevenstar Club in the qualifying round organised by Assam Football Association. It currently competes in I-League 3 and the Assam State Premier League.

The 2023 Durand Cup was the 132nd edition of Durand Cup, the oldest football tournament in Asia, and the second edition since it was supported by the Asian Football Confederation. The tournament is hosted by the Durand Football Tournament Society in co-operation with the AIFF, Eastern Command of the Indian Armed Forces and the Government of West Bengal, supported by the Government of Assam.
