The Indian Volley League was a professional volleyball league in India and the only Volleyball League in India recognised by Volleyball Federation of India. [1] [2] It was launched by the Volleyball Federation of India in 2011. The inaugural edition featured six teams and the top players in the country. It has currently been replaced by the Prime Volleyball League.[ citation needed ]

IVL 2011

The 2011 Indian Volley League season was the debut season of the Indian Volley League, established by Volleyball federation of India in 2011. The season commenced on 29 May 2011 and ended on 24 June 2011. Chennai Spikers were the champions of the inaugural edition.

The 1996–97 National Football League, also known as the Philips National League for sponsorship reasons, was the inaugural season of the National Football League. The tournament began on 17 December 1996 and concluded on 16 March 1997. Before the commencement, the All India Football Federation maintained that it would be a semi-professional tournament for the first two years.

Chennai Spikers, founded in 2011 was a franchise volleyball team based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu that played in the Indian Volley League. Chennai Spikers have won the first edition of the Indian Volley League in 2011.

World Series Hockey (WSH) was a professional league for field hockey competition in India. It was organised by Indian Hockey Federation with the objective to reinvigorate hockey in India. It was contested among eight franchise-based teams consisting of players from India and around the world. The entire event took place on home and away basis culminating into multi header playoffs. Australian Dennis Meredith, a member of the FIH panel of tournament directors, was the technical director of the WSH. It was sponsored by tyre manufacturers, Bridgestone, and therefore officially known as Bridgestone World Series Hockey.

Volleyball is a sport played all over India, both in rural as well as urban India. It is a popular recreation sport. India was ranked 5th in Asia, and 27th in the world in 2013. Doing well in the youth and junior levels, in second in the 2003 World Youth Championships. Currently, a major problem for the sport is the lack of sponsors. The Indian senior men's team is currently ranked 73th in the world.

Pro Volleyball League (PVL) was a professional men's indoor volleyball league in India. The inaugural season took place in February 2019. The league was an initiative between the Volleyball Federation of India, Head Digital Works Pvt. Ltd. and Baseline Ventures. The inaugural season of the league was won by Chennai Spartans. Later in the year 2022 the league was rebranded as Prime Volleyball League.

The team has competed in three seasons of the Prime Volleyball League, recording their best season in the 2022 edition, finishing as joint-third place winners alongside the Calicut Heroes. Apart from competing in India's most competitive volleyball franchise league, the ownership has constantly stated their commitment to developing volleyball at the grassroots level in India.

Prime Volleyball League (PVL), also known as RuPay Prime Volleyball League for sponsorship reasons, is a professional men's indoor volleyball league in India. The inaugural season took place in February 2022. The league is an initiative of Baseline Ventures with no involvement from Volleyball Federation of India and a rechristened version of the Pro Volleyball League which was held in February 2019. Sony Pictures Networks India is the official broadcaster of the league. RuPay is the title sponsor of the league and signed the contract for three years.

2022 Prime Volleyball League is the inaugural season of the Prime Volleyball League, a franchise based Indian Indoor Volleyball League which is organized by Baseline Ventures. This edition of the league will feature seven teams from Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Calicut, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi and Kolkata and the tournament is scheduled to be held at Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad from 5 to 27 February 2022.
