The Pro Wrestling League (PWL) is an Indian sport wrestling promotion that was first established in 2015. It was initiated by ProSportify and Wrestling Federation of India. [1]

Structure

The Pro Wrestling League includes six franchises, which represent cities throughout India. The teams are formed via auction. [2]

The league adheres to United World Wrestling rules for all weight categories. [3] All the seasons so far of PWL hosted six teams, each consisting of 9 players. During the group stage all the team meet each other once. While the top after group stages qualifies to the playoffs. During group stages out of 9 weight categories 7 category bouts are held, the teams gets to block any one category bouts they want, they have to play all bouts even if they win the match before the last bout. During the playoffs all the 9 category bouts are held and a team wins a match when it wins 5 bouts. [3]

Bidding

In every season of PWL, all players participate in a bidding system. [4] Players are listed in an auction where each team owner bags a chosen player after making the highest bid.

The tournament was hosted in India and the opening and closing ceremonies were held in M. A. Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, the home venue of the reigning champions Chennai Super Kings. Bajrang Punia is an Indian freestyle wrestler, who competes in the 65-kg weight category. At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Punia won a bronze medal by defeating Kazakhstan's Daulet Niyazbekov with a 8–0 margin. Punia is the only Indian wrestler to win 4 medals at the World Wrestling Championships. He is one of the leaders of the ongoing 2023 Indian wrestlers' protest against BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.

Pro Kabaddi League or abbreviated to PKL is an Indian men's professional Kabaddi league. It was launched in 2014 and is broadcast on Star Sports. However, Season 8 was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the season commenced on 22 December 2021.

Bengaluru Bulls (BGB) is a professional kabaddi team based in Bengaluru that plays in the Pro Kabaddi League. The team were champions in Season 6 and are led by Mahender Singh and coached by Randhir Singh. The team is owned by Kosmik Global Media. Bulls play their home matches at the Kanteerava Indoor Stadium. Bulls are one of the most successful teams in PKL history after winning the trophy for the first time by defeating the Gujarat FortuneGiants in the 2018–19 season. The team was also the runner-up to U Mumba in 2015 and reached the semifinals in the inaugural 2014 season.

Bengal Warriors (BEN) is a professional kabaddi team based in Kolkata, West Bengal that plays in the Pro Kabaddi League. In 2019, they won the trophy for the first time by defeating Dabang Delhi. The team is currently led by Maninder Singh and coached by Kasinatha Baskaran. The team play their home matches at the Netaji Indoor Stadium.

Navjot Kaur is an Indian wrestler. She represented India in the women's freestyle 67 kg category at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in which she won the bronze medal. She became the first Indian woman wrestler to win an Asian Championship gold medal.

Their home ground is the Patliputra Sports Complex. The Pirates are the most successful team in PKL history with a record of winning 3 out of 8 titles and winning all of them in successive. They are also one time runners up in season 8 of pkl which started after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dabang Delhi K.C. is a professional kabaddi team based in New Delhi, India, that plays in the Pro Kabaddi League. The team is currently led by Naveen Kumar Goyat and coached by Krishan Kumar Hooda. The team is owned by Radha Kapoor and they play their home matches at the Thyagaraj Sports Complex, New Delhi. The team have won their maiden VIVO Pro Kabaddi League title defeating Patna Pirates in the 2021–22 season final.

Telugu Titans is a professional kabaddi team based in Vishakapatnam and Hyderabad that plays in the Pro Kabaddi League. Telugu Titans is a franchise of Veera Sports owned by Mr. Srinivas Sreeramaneni of Vaya Group, of NED Group and Mr. Mahesh Kolli of Greenko Group. The Titans play their home matches at G. M. C. Balayogi SATS Indoor Stadium when in Hyderabad and at Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium, when in Vishakapatnam. The Titans reached the playoffs of Season 2 and 4 in PKL.In Season 2 Telugu Titans Went to Semi Final But Lost to Benguluru Bulls 38-39.In Season 9 They Signed Best Defender in PKL Manjeet Chillar as Assistant Coach.

The 2018 season of the Indian Premier League, also known as IPL 11 and branded as Vivo IPL 2018, was the eleventh season of the IPL, a professional Twenty20 cricket league established by the BCCI in 2007. Tamil Thalaivas is a professional kabaddi team based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, that plays in the Pro Kabaddi League. The team is owned by the consortium called Magnum Sports Private Limited, the parent company of Indian Super League club Kerala Blasters FC. Actor Vijay Sethupathi is the brand ambassador of the team. Tamil Thalaivas play their home matches at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium (Chennai), Tamil Nadu.

The 2022 Indian Premier League, also known as IPL 15 or for sponsorship reasons, TATA IPL 2022, was the fifteenth season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), a professional Twenty20 cricket league established by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in 2007. The tournament was played from 26 March 2022 to 29 May 2022. The group stage of the tournament was played entirely in the state of Maharashtra, with Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Pune hosting matches.
