The Pro Wrestling League (PWL) is an Indian sport wrestling promotion that was first established in 2015. It was initiated by ProSportify and Wrestling Federation of India. [1]

Structure

The Pro Wrestling League includes six franchises, which represent cities throughout India. The teams are formed via auction. [2]

The league adheres to United World Wrestling rules for all weight categories. [3] All the seasons so far of PWL hosted six teams, each consisting of 9 players. During the group stage all the team meet each other once. While the top after group stages qualifies to the playoffs. During group stages out of 9 weight categories 7 category bouts are held, the teams gets to block any one category bouts they want, they have to play all bouts even if they win the match before the last bout. During the playoffs all the 9 category bouts are held and a team wins a match when it wins 5 bouts. [3]

Bidding

In every season of PWL, all players participate in a bidding system. [4] Players are listed in an auction where each team owner bags a chosen player after making the highest bid.

Navjot Kaur is an Indian wrestler. She represented India in the women's freestyle 67 kg category at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in which she won the bronze medal. She became the first Indian woman wrestler to win an Asian Championship gold medal.

Their home ground is the Patliputra Sports Complex. The Pirates are the most successful team in PKL history with a record of winning 3 out of 8 titles and winning all of them in successive. They are also one time runners up in season 8 of pkl which started after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dabang Delhi K.C. is a professional kabaddi team based in New Delhi, India, that plays in the Pro Kabaddi League. The team is currently led by Naveen Kumar Goyat and coached by Joginder Narwal. The team is owned by Radha Kapoor and they play their home matches at the Thyagaraj Sports Complex, New Delhi. The team have won their maiden VIVO Pro Kabaddi League title defeating Patna Pirates in the 2021–22 season final.

Telugu Titans is a professional kabaddi team based in Hyderabad, Telangana that plays in the Pro Kabaddi League. Telugu Titans is a franchise of Veera Sports owned by Srinivas Sreeramaneni of Vaya Group, of NED Group and Mahesh Kolli of Greenko Group. The Titans play their home matches at G. M. C. Balayogi SATS Indoor Stadium when in Hyderabad. The Titans reached the playoffs of Season 2 and 4 in PKL.

The 2018 Indian Premier League season was the eleventh season of the Indian Premier League, a professional Twenty20 cricket league established by the BCCI in 2007. The season, which was held from 7 April to 27 May, saw the return of the Chennai Super Kings and the Rajasthan Royals after serving two years of suspension for the involvement of their respective owners in the 2013 IPL betting case. Star Sports purchased the media rights at ₹16,347.5 crore for five years starting from 2018. The tagline was Best vs Best.

Tamil Thalaivas is a professional kabaddi team based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, that plays in the Pro Kabaddi League. The team is owned by the consortium Magnum Sports Private Limited, the parent company of Indian Super League club Kerala Blasters FC. Actor Vijay Sethupathi is the brand ambassador of the team. Tamil Thalaivas play their home matches at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Tamil Nadu.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Pro Panja League</span> Indian arm wrestling competition

The Pro Panja League (PPL) is a professional Indian arm wrestling league which had its first season start on 28 July 2023 and end on 13 August 2023. There are separate competition categories for men, women, and specially abled (disabled) players, and the tournament took place at Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi.
