Miroslav Kalousek is a Czech politician, former leader of KDU-ČSL and TOP 09, and has been a member of the Chamber of Deputies (MP) since 1998. He served twice as Finance Minister in the cabinets of Mirek Topolánek and then again from 2010 to 2013 in the government of Petr Nečas.
TOP 09 is a liberal-conservative political party in the Czech Republic, led by Markéta Pekarová Adamová. TOP 09 holds 14 seats in the Chamber of Deputies and has three MEPs.
Presidential elections were held in the Czech Republic in January 2013, the country's first direct election for the presidency. No candidate received a majority of the votes in the first round on 11–12 January, so a second round runoff election was held on 25–26 January. Nine individuals secured enough signatures or support of parliamentarians to become official candidates for the office. Miloš Zeman of the Party of Civic Rights (SPOZ) and Karel Schwarzenberg of TOP 09 qualified for the second round, which was won by Zeman with 54.8% of the vote, compared to Schwarzenberg's 45.2%. Zeman assumed office in March 2013 after being sworn in.
The Civic Democratic Party (ODS) leadership election of 2014 was a result of party's electoral defeat in 2013 legislative election. Candidates include former Minister of Education and Chairman of Masaryk University Petr Fiala, former Prime Minister candidate Miroslava Němcová and MEP Edvard Kožušník. Fiala was nominated by 12 regional organisations and thus was considered a front-runner. Fiala was also endorsed by acting leader of ODS Martin Kuba. Edvard Kožušník was endorsed by Liberec Region organisation of ODS. Over 500 delegates voted.
The Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia (KSČM) held a leadership election on 1 October 2005. It was held following the resignation of the incumbent leader Miroslav Grebeníček. Vojtěch Filip defeated Václav Exner and became the new leader of KSČM. Filip was considered the candidate who is more similar to Grebeníček.
A leadership election for Christian and Democratic Union – Czechoslovak People's Party (KDU-ČSL) was held on 12 November 2005. The incumbent leader Miroslav Kalousek received almost 80% of votes and was reelected. Kalousek didn't have a rival.
A leadership election for Christian and Democratic Union – Czechoslovak People's Party (KDU-ČSL) was held on 27 May 2017. Mayor of Vsetín Jiří Čunek became leader of KDU-ČSL when he defeated Vlasta Parkanová. The incumbent leader was Miroslav Kalousek.

The Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia (KSČM) held a leadership election on 21 April 2018. Snap election was held as a result of party's losses in 2017 legislative election. Josef Skála was first major candidate to announce his candidacy. The incumbent leader Vojtěch Filip decided to run for another term. MEP Kateřina Konečná became third major candidate. Filip and Skála eventually advanced to second round.

Presidential elections will be held in the Czech Republic in January 2023. The incumbent president Miloš Zeman is not eligible to run for another term due to the two-term limit. As was the case in the last two presidential elections, the vote will be direct.

Civic Democratic Party nominated Jaroslav Kubera, Mayors and Independents nominated Jan Horník and Christian and Democratic Union – Czechoslovak People's Party nominated Václav Hampl. Incumbent President Milan Štěch doesn't seek reelection. It was the first time in the history of the Senate that more than 2 candidates run for the position. Senate factions usually came to an agreement about the new President in the past.
The Czech political party TOP 09 held a leadership election on 24 November 2019. The incumbent leader Jiří Pospíšil decided not to seek a new term. Markéta Pekarová Adamová was elected the new leader when she defeated Tomáš Czernin.
A leadership election for KDU-ČSL was held on 25 January 2020 following the resignation of the incumbent leader of the party Marek Výborný. MP Jan Bartošek, MP Marian Jurečka and MEP Tomáš Zdechovský announced were running to replace Výborný. Zdechovský withdrew from the race, and Jurečka then beat Bartošek, receiving 205 votes.
