The 2016 Moldovan Super Cup was the 10th Moldovan Super Cup (Romanian : Supercupa Moldovei), an annual Moldovan football match played by the winner of the national football league (the National Division) and the winner of the national Cup. The match was played between Sheriff Tiraspol, champions of the 2015–16 National Division, and Zaria Bălți, winners of the 2015–16 Moldovan Cup. It was held at the Sheriff Small Arena on 10 August 2016.

The 2015–16 season is FC Sheriff Tiraspol's 19th season, and their 18th in the Divizia Naţională, the top-flight of Moldovan football. Sheriff Tiraspol are the current defending champions of the Moldovan Cup, and were knocked out of the Europa League by Norwegian side Odds BK, whilst defeating FC Milsami Orhei in the Moldovan Super Cup.

The competition began on 22 August 2015 with the first preliminary round and will end with the final held in May 2016. The 2016–17 Moldovan Cup was the 26th season of the Moldovan annual football tournament. Zaria Bălți entered as the defending champions after winning the 2015–16 edition. The competition started on 20 August 2016 with the first preliminary round and concluded with the final at the Zimbru Stadium on 25 May 2017. Sheriff won a record 9th title following a 5–0 win over Zaria in the final. As winners, Sheriff would have been assured a place for the 2017–2018 UEFA Europa League first qualifying round; however, since they already qualified for the 2017–2018 UEFA Champions League second qualifying round by winning the title in the Divizia Națională, the Europa League entry went to Zaria Bălți, the highest team in the Divizia Națională table which had not already qualified for European competitions.

The 2017 Moldovan National Division was the 27th season of top-tier football in Moldova. It was played as a double round-robin tournament. This transitional season was a result of the Moldovan Football Federation's decision to change the Divizia Națională season from an Autumn–Spring schedule to a Spring–Autumn one. Sheriff Tiraspol were the defending champions. The competition began on 8 July 2017.

The 2021 Moldovan Super Cup was the 12th Moldovan Super Cup, an annual Moldovan football match played by the winner of the national football league and the winner of the national Cup. The match was played between Sfîntul Gheorghe, winners of the 2020–21 Moldovan Cup, and Sheriff Tiraspol, champions of the 2020–21 National Division. It was held at the Bălți Stadium on 26 June 2021.

The match was played between Sheriff Tiraspol, champions of the 2006–07 National Division, and Zimbru Chișinău, winners of the 2006–07 Moldovan Cup. It was held at the Sheriff Stadium on 27 June 2007.
