2016 Touring Car Masters

The 2016 Touring Car Masters was an Australian motor racing series for modified touring cars manufactured between 1 January 1963 and 31 December 1978. [1] It was the tenth running of the Touring Car Masters. The series was sanctioned by the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport (CAMS) as an Authorised Series with Touring Car Masters Pty. Ltd. appointed as the Category Manager by CAMS. [1]

The Pro Master class was won by John Bowe (Holden Torana), Pro Am by Jason Gomersall (Holden Torana), Pro Sport by Adam Garwood (Holden Torana) and the Invitational class by Greg Garwood (Ford Capri Perana).

The Touring Cars Masters field was combined with New Zealand Central Muscle Car series competitors for the Bathurst round. [2] The Trans-Tasman Challenge featured over 50 cars from both series with Glenn Seton winning the round in his Ford Mustang. Dean Perkins was the best placed New Zealander with his Ford Falcon. [3]

In addition, each driver was awarded 25 points for each Trophy Race in which they started and 25 points for each Trophy Race in which they finished. [1]

Bathurst 1000 Annual 1,000 km touring car race in Australia

The Bathurst 1000 is a 1,000-kilometre (621.4 mi) touring car race held annually on the Mount Panorama Circuit in Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia. It is currently run as part of the Supercars Championship, the most recent incarnation of the Australian Touring Car Championship. In 1987 it was a round of the World Touring Car Championship.

Henry Leslie Firth was an Australian racing driver and team manager. Firth was a leading race and rally driver during the 1950s and 1960s and continued as an influential team manager with first the Ford works team and then the famed Holden Dealer Team (HDT) well into the 1970s. Firth’s nickname was "the fox", implying his use of cunning ploys as a team manager.

1976 Hardie-Ferodo 1000

The 1976 Hardie-Ferodo 1000 was the 17th running of the Bathurst 1000 touring car race. It was held on 3 October 1976 at the Mount Panorama Circuit just outside Bathurst in New South Wales, Australia. The race was open to cars complying with CAMS Group C Touring Car regulations.

2002 V8 Supercar Championship Series

The 2002 V8 Supercar Championship Series was an Australian based motor racing series for V8 Supercars. It began on 15 March 2002 at the Adelaide Street Circuit and ended on 1 December at Sandown International Raceway after 13 rounds. It was the fourth V8 Supercar Championship Series but the first to carry that name, previous championships having been contested as the "Shell Championship Series". The winner of the Drivers Championship, Mark Skaife, was also awarded the 43rd Australian Touring Car Championship.

The South Pacific Touring Series was an Australian Touring car racing series held annually from 1970 to 1975 during the month of February in conjunction with the Tasman Series for open-wheelers. Races counting towards the series were staged at Surfers Paradise in Queensland, Warwick Farm and Oran Park in Sydney, Sandown Park in Melbourne and, from 1972, at the Adelaide International Raceway in South Australia.

The championship began at Symmons Plains Raceway on 29 February and ended at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit on 28 November in the longest season in the history of the series. 1976 saw a substantial change to the ATCC calendar which was expanded to eleven rounds, incorporating the end-of-season long distance Australian Championship of Makes races for the first time. These races included Sandown's Hang Ten 400 and the Phillip Island 500K, although notably not the Bathurst 1000.

The 1972 Australian Touring Car Championship was a CAMS sanctioned national motor racing title open to Improved Production Touring Cars and Group E Series Production Touring Cars.
