The tournament in Xi'an was a new addition to the ITF Women's Circuit.
The 2014 ITF Women's Circuit – Wuhan was a professional tennis tournament played on outdoor hard courts. It was the first edition of the tournament which was part of the 2014 ITF Women's Circuit, offering a total of $50,000 in prize money. It took place in Wuhan, China, on 28 July–3 August 2014.
Wang Qiang was the defending champion but chose not to compete.
Han Xinyun and Zhang Kailin were the defending champions, but lost in the semifinals.

This was the first edition of the tournament. Liang Chen and Wang Yafan won the title, defeating Varatchaya Wongteanchai and Yang Zhaoxuan in the final 6–3, 6–4.

The 2016 Kunming Open was a professional tennis tournament played on outdoor clay courts. It was the fifth edition for men and third edition for women of the tournament and part of the 2016 ATP Challenger Tour and the 2016 ITF Women's Circuit, offering a total of $100,000 for men and women in prize money. It took place in Anning, China, between 25 April–1 May for men and 2–8 May 2016 for women.
