Qualification for the 2018 FIBA Asia Champions Cup started in 2017 and will end in 2018.

Background

Starting this year, there are a lot of changes in the qualification leading to the main tournament: [1]

Awaiting results are the West Asia and East Asia Final 8 Qualifiers:

West Asia

On March 17, 2018, Petrochimi of Iran avenged their last year's defeat against Al-Riyadi of Lebanon to rule the West Asia Basketball Association (WABA) Champions Cup qualifiers, 83-53, in the Final in Beirut, Lebanon. Joining the finalists is Sareyyet Ramallah of Palestine, which qualified by virtue of their win over Syria's Al-Jaish. [3]

The top three teams are now qualified to the “Road To Final 8 (West Asia)” Round 1. [4]

Southeast Asia

The FIBA Asia Champions Cup SEABA qualifier was held in Nonthaburi, Thailand from 8–10 May 2018.

The competition qualify two club teams from the SEABA sub-zone for the "Road to Final 8 (East Asia)" round of the main tournament.

The two successful SEABA club teams will join club teams from Chinese Taipei and India in the next round, which will qualify one team to the Final 8, joining the group composed of Australia, Japan and the Philippines. [5]

Thailand's Mono Vampire, and Indonesia's Pelita Jaya have qualified for the Round 1 of the FIBA Asia Champions Cup 2018 - Road to Final 8 East Asia after finishing among the top two. [6]

Gulf

The FIBA Asia Champions Cup GBA qualifier was held in Muscat, Oman from 6–14 May 2018.

The sub-zone qualifier will qualify three teams for the Round 1 of the FIBA Asia Champions Cup, which will determine the identity of the four teams in the “Road To Final 8 (West Asia)”. [7]

Two teams from Qatar, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates and a team each from Saudi Arabia and the hosts Oman participated in the weeklong sub-zone qualifier. [8]

Bahrain's Al Manama, UAE's Sharjah and Qatar's Al-Arabi have qualified for the Round 1 of the FIBA Asia Champions Cup 2018 - Road to Final 8 West Asia after finishing among the top three. [9]

East Inter-Sub Zone qualification

South Asia will be represented by the best club team from India and they will participate in the FIBA Asia Champions Cup 2018 East Inter-Sub Zone Qualification that will be held in Thailand on 30 July.

East Asia has already three direct spots allocated to the Final 8 (China, Korea, Japan) and Taiwan's Pauian will participate in the FIBA Asia Champions Cup 2018 East Inter-Sub Zone Qualification that will be held in Thailand on 30 July.

The FIBA Asia Champions Cup 2011 was the 22nd staging of the FIBA Asia Champions Cup, the basketball club tournament of FIBA Asia. The tournament was held in Pasig, Philippines from May 28 to June 5, 2011. The event is co-organized by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas and FIBA Asia.

The 2012 FIBA Asia Under-18 Championship qualification was held in late 2011 and early 2012 with the Persian Gulf region, West Asia, Southeast Asia, East Asia, Central Asia and South Asia each conducting tournaments.

The 2014 FIBA Asia Champions Cup will be the 25th staging of the FIBA Asia Champions Cup, the international basketball club tournament of FIBA Asia. Qualifying for the 2014 FIBA Asia Cup was held to determine the eight teams that will participate in the 2014 FIBA Asia Cup, aside from the host team China and 2013 FIBA Asia Championship winners Iran. Qualification was via FIBA Asia zone, with each zone having an automatic one berth, plus additional berths from the teams' zones of the second and third runners-up in the 2013 FIBA Asia Championship.

The 2016 FIBA Asia Champions Cup was the 25th staging of the FIBA Asia Champions Cup, the international basketball club tournament of FIBA Asia. The tournament took place in Chenzhou, China from 8 October to 16 October, 2016. The venue of the tournament was Chenzhou Olympic Sports Centre Gymnasium. This was the return of the tournament after a two-year hiatus since the 2013 edition.

The 2018 FIBA Asia Champions Cup was the 27th staging of the FIBA Asia Champions Cup, the international basketball club tournament of FIBA Asia. The tournament, which was originally scheduled to be hosted by China, took place in Thailand from 27 September to 2 October 2018. Games were played at Stadium29 in Nonthaburi.

The 2025 FIBA Asia Cup qualification is a basketball competition that is being played from June 2022 to February 2025, to determine the FIBA Asia-Oceania nations who will qualify for the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup.

The West Asia Super League (WASL) is an international basketball league organised by FIBA Asia, consisting of clubs from Western Asia and Gulf regions, in addition to the representatives of India and Kazakhstan. The league was announced in 2022 and started with the inaugural season from December, until June 2023.

The 2022–23 West Asia Super League is the inaugural season of the West Asia Super League (WASL), organised by FIBA Asia, held between December and June.
