The 2018 Laver Cup was the second edition of the Laver Cup, a men's tennis tournament between teams from Europe and the rest of the world. It was held on indoor hard courts at the United Center in Chicago, United States from 21 until 23 September.
Team Europe successfully defended their title, winning the tournament 13–8. [1] The attendance was 93,584 over the three days. [2]
On 19 March 2018, Roger Federer for Team Europe and Nick Kyrgios for Team World were the first players to confirm their participation. [3] [4]
On 28 June 2018, Novak Djokovic and Juan Martín del Potro committed to this event, [5] as well as Kevin Anderson, John Isner and Diego Schwartzman on 26 July 2018. [6]
On 13 August 2018, Alexander Zverev, Grigor Dimitrov and David Goffin announced their participation for Team Europe. [7] As their final picks, the team captains Björn Borg and John McEnroe chose Kyle Edmund and Jack Sock, respectively. [8] As in 2017, del Potro withdrew shortly before the tournament started and was replaced by Frances Tiafoe.
The total prize money for the 2018 Laver Cup was $2,250,000 for all 12 participating players. [9] [10]
Each winning team member earned $250,000, which marks no increase in prize money compared to 2017.
Whereas, each of the losing team members earned $125,000 each.

Nicholas Hilmy Kyrgios is an Australian professional tennis player. Kyrgios achieved his career-high ATP singles ranking of world No. 13 on 24 October 2016. He has won seven ATP Tour singles titles, including the 2019 and 2022 Washington Open, and reached eleven finals, most notably a major final at the 2022 Wimbledon Championships, and a Masters 1000 final at the 2017 Cincinnati Masters. In doubles, during his professional career, Kyrgios has a career-high ranking of world No. 11, achieved on 7 November 2022, winning a major doubles title at the 2022 Australian Open and reaching the semifinals of the Miami Open, both times partnering with Thanasi Kokkinakis. He has also reached three major singles quarterfinals.

The win was also Djokovic's first title in over 12 months, his previous win having been at Eastbourne on July 1, 2017, and returned him to the top 10 in rankings. The competition was contested by all but one of the top 20 male players at the time.

Thiem became the first man to come back from two sets down in a US Open final in the Open Era, the first to do so overall since 1949, and the first to do so in any major final since Gastón Gaudio at the 2004 French Open. Both players served for the championship in the final set, but both were broken at 30.
