The 2018 South American Under-20 Futsal Championship is the 8th edition of the South American Under-20 Futsal Championship (Spanish : CONMEBOL Sudamericano Sub-20 de Futsal), the biennial international youth futsal championship organised by the CONMEBOL for the men's under-20 national teams of South America. The tournament is held in Lima, Peru between 4–11 November 2018. [1]
All ten CONMEBOL member national teams entered the tournament. [1]
All matches are played in one venue: Complejo Deportivo de la Federación Peruana de Fútbol in Lima.
The draw of the tournament was held on 26 October 2018, 12:00 PET (UTC−5), at the headquarters of the Peruvian Football Federation. [2] [1] The ten teams were drawn into two groups of five teams. The defending champions Argentina and the hosts Peru were seeded into Groups A and B respectively, while the remaining teams were placed into four "pairing pots" according to their results in the 2016 South American Under-20 Futsal Championship: Brazil–Venezuela, Uruguay–Paraguay, Chile–Colombia, Bolivia–Ecuador.

The Peruvian Football Federation is the body that governs Association football in Peru. It was founded on August 23, 1922, and affiliated with FIFA in 1924. It is a member of CONMEBOL since 1925, and directly oversees the Peru national football team, futsal team youth teams, the Copa Federación, and the amateur leagues. The Peruvian National football team has won two Copa América's, six Bolivarian Games titles and qualified for the FIFA World Cup five times.
The Peru First Division, officially known as Liga 1, is the top flight of association football in Peru. It has been referred to as Torneo Descentralizado since 1966, when the first teams residing outside the Lima and Callao provinces were invited to compete in the inaugural league national competition.
The Peru national under-17 football team represents Peru in international under-17 football competitions and is overseen by the Federacion Peruana de Futbol. The qualified for two World Cups, their best result being in 2007, where the Jotitas reached the Quarter-finals. The teams best result in the South American U-17 Championship was a Fourth Place finish in 2007.
Football is the most popular sport in Peru. Football/soccer in Peru was introduced by British immigrants, Peruvians returning from Great Britain, and by English sailors in the later half of the 19th century during their frequent stops at the port of Callao, which at that point was considered one of the most important ports of the Pacific Ocean. According to the work entitled La Difusión del Fútbol en Lima, during the last decade of the 19th century, records show that sailors were known to practice sports such as football/soccer and played against teams made up of Englishmen, Peruvians, or a mix between Englishmen and Peruvians.
The Liga de Ascenso Femenina is currently the second level league competition for women's football in Peru that officially started in 2009. Until 2019 it was the top tournament of Peruvian Primera División Femenina whose winner qualified for the Copa Libertadores de Fútbol Femenino, the South American Champions League. The competition is organised by the Peruvian Football Federation.
The 2015 South American Under-17 Football Championship was the 16th edition of the biennial international youth football tournament organized by CONMEBOL for players aged 17 and below. It was held in Paraguay from 4 to 29 March 2015.
The 2015 Copa América de Futsal was the 11th edition of the Copa América de Futsal, the international futsal championship under FIFA rules organised by CONMEBOL for the men's national teams of South America. The tournament was held in Portoviejo, Ecuador between 23–30 August 2015.
The 2016 South American Under-17 Women's Football Championship was the fifth edition of the South American Under-17 Women's Football Championship, the biennial international youth football championship organised by the CONMEBOL for the women's under-17 national teams of South America. The tournament was held in Barquisimeto, Venezuela between 1 and 20 March 2016.

The 2019 South American U-17 Championship was the 18th edition of the South American U-17 Championship, the biennial international youth football championship organised by CONMEBOL for the men's under-17 national teams of South America. It was held in Peru from 21 March to 14 April 2019.

Gloria Olienka Giovanna Salinas López, known as Olienka Salinas, is a Peruvian former football and futsal player and current manager. She is the Peruvian football and futsal team all-time-top-scorer with 7 and 9 goals respectively. Since 2018 she has been part of the technical staff of the Sporting Cristal women's football team that participates in the Peruvian women's football championship.
The 2019 South American Under-15 Football Championship was the 9th edition of the South American Under-15 Football Championship, the biennial international youth football championship organised by the CONMEBOL for the men's under-15 national teams of South America. The tournament was originally to be held in Bolivia between 23 November and 8 December 2019. However, on 8 November 2019, CONMEBOL announced the tournament would be moved to Paraguay due to the 2019 Bolivian protests.

The Primera División Femenina officially named Liga Femenina, is the top tournament of women's association football in Peru, organized by the Peruvian Football Federation through its Women's Football Commission. The competition, as an official tournament, was created in 1996 under de name of "Campeonato Metropolitano de Fútbol Femenino", followed by the "Campeonato Nacional de Fútbol Femenino" which was renamed later as "Copa Femenina" and currently is designated as "Liga Femenina". The champion qualifies to the Copa Libertadores Femenina.
The Peru women's national under-20 football team represents Peru in international women's football age of U-20 and is controlled by the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF) as a part of the CONMEBOL federation. The team plays in South American Under-20 Women's Football Championship and has yet to qualify for a FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup.
