The 2018 Tour de Langkawi was the 23rd edition of an annual professional road bicycle racing stage race held in Malaysia since 1996. The race was run at the highest category apart from those races which make up the UCI World Tour, and was rated by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) as a 2.HC (hors category) race as part of the 2018 UCI Asia Tour.
23 teams accepted invitations to participate in the 2017 Tour de Langkawi. Two UCI WorldTeam – Team Dimension Data and Astana was invited to the race, along with six UCI Professional Continental and thirteen UCI Continental teams. The field was completed by one national selection teams. Each team had a maximum of six riders.

Mohammed Adiq Husainie Othman is a Malaysian professional racing cyclist, who last rode for UCI Continental team Team Sapura Cycling. He competed for Malaysia at the 2012 Olympic Games, in the men's road race. He also competed at the 2010 and 2018 Commonwealth Games, in track cycling.

The 2020 Malaysian International Classic Race was a road cycling one-day race that took place on 15 February 2020 in Malaysia, starting and finishing in Kuah, the capital of the Langkawi district in the state of Kedah. It was the inaugural edition of the Malaysian International Classic Race and was rated as a 1.1 event as a part of the 2020 UCI Asia Tour. This race was created initially as a one-off race to be a part of the festivities for the 25th anniversary of the Tour de Langkawi; however, organizers have expressed desires to make this race an annual event in the future.
