The 2018 WPA World Junior Nine-ball Championships was the 27th hosting of the Junior World Championship in the pool discipline 9-Ball. The event ran from 31 October to 3 November 2018 Moscow, Russia.

Contents

Under 19 world champion was Yip Kin Ling from Hong Kong. In the final against his countryman Robbie Capito he won 11–10 against last year's finalist. In the Under 17 age group was won by Mahkeal Parris who won the final against the Norwegian Emil Andre Gangfløt 9–6. In the junior women, Chen Chia-hua won the event, winning 9–5 victory against the South Korean Seo Seoa in the final.

Defending champion were Sanjin Pehlivanović (U17), Fedor Gorst (U19) and Kristina Tkatsch (Junior). Gorst was the only champion to attempt to defend their title. While Pehlivanović now played in the Under 19 category, Tkatsch was due to age no longer eligible.

Tournament format

All three competitions were first held in the Double-elimination tournament with a Single-elimination tournament from the quarter-finals onwards. The events were all played as winner breaks. [5]

Efren Manalang Reyes, popularly known by the nicknames "Bata" and "The Magician", is a Filipino professional pool player. Reyes is widely considered one of the greatest pool players of all time. A winner of over 100 international titles, Reyes was the first player to win the WPA World Championships in two different pool disciplines. Among his numerous titles, Reyes is a WPA World Nine-ball Champion and WPA World Eight-ball Champion, a U.S. Open 9-Ball Championship winner, a four-time Sands Regency 9-Ball Open winner, and a thirteen-time Derby City Classic winner. Reyes also represented the Philippines at the World Cup of Pool, winning the event with his partner Francisco Bustamante in 2006 and 2009. David Alcaide Bermúdez is a Spanish pool player. Alcaide is a three-time world championship semi-finalist having reached the stage at the WPA World 10-ball Championship, in 2009 and 2015, and the WPA World Eight-ball Championship in 2011.

The 2019 WPA World Ten-ball Championship was a professional pool tournament for the discipline of ten-ball organised by the World Pool-Billiard Association (WPA) and CueSports International. It was the fifth WPA World Ten-ball Championship; the previous championship was held in 2015. After plans for an event in both 2016 and 2018 to be held in Manila fell through, a 2019 event at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas as part of a three-year deal for the event to be played in the United States was agreed. The event was held concurrently with the Billiard Congress of America's National Ten-ball event from July 22 to 26. The event was sponsored by cue manufacturer Predator Group.

The 2013 WPA World Nine-ball Championship was the 22nd event in the annual WPA World Nine-ball Championship. The event took place from September 2 to 13, 2013 in Doha, Qatar.

Sanjin Pehlivanović is a Bosnian professional pool player. Pehlivanovic won the WPA World Nine-ball Championship, defeating Robbie Capito in the final 9–1. He is also an eight-time junior European Pool Championships champion, winning events 8-Ball, 9-Ball, and 10-Ball. In 2021, he also received a runners-up medal in the European championship 9-Ball event, losing in the final to Germany's Joshua Filler.

The 2017 WPA World Nine-ball Junior Championship was a professional youth 9-Ball World Championship held between October 30 and November 2, 2017. The event was split into three competitions, Under 17s, boys and girls. Sanjin Pehlivanović won the U17 event, defeating Robbie Capito in the final, with Fjodor Gorst winning the boys event. Kristina Tkatsch won the girls event defeating South Korea's Lee Woo-jin in the final.

Margaret Fefilova Styer is a Belarusian professional pool player from Minsk, Belarus. Fefilova has won a total of 29 Belarusian national women's championships, with an additional three national championships in mixed competitions against both men and women. She is the first player from Belarus to win a medal at the European Pool Championships, a bronze medal in the nine-ball competition in 2015. She also reached the final of the European Girls Championship in 2014, losing 3–6 to Kamila Khodjaeva.

The 2016 Kremlin Cup was a professional pool tournament in the discipline Ten-ball, held from 9–12 November 2016 in Olympic Stadium in Moscow, Russia.

Kristina Olegovna Tkach is a Russian professional pool player. She became the 2017 WPA World Nine-ball Junior Championship winner, defeating Lee Woo-jin in the final 9–6. Tkach is a four time European champion having won the eight-ball event in 2016 and 2019, as well as Straight pool in 2017 and 2019. In addition, she is a nine-time Junior European Champion.

The 2016 WPA World Nine-ball Junior Championship was a professional youth 9-Ball World championship held between 16–20 November 2016. The event was won by Zheng Xiaohuai in the Under 17 with a 8–5 final victory against Enkhbold Temuujin. In the age group Under 19, two former Under 17 World Champions met in Kong Dejing and Daniel Maciol the final. Kong won the match and the title 11–2. In the girls event, Chen Chia-hua met compatriot Tsai Pei-chun in the final, winning 9–8.

The 2019 Antalya Open was a professional nine-ball pool tournament held from 7 to 10 November 2019 in the Limak Atlantis Resort in Antalya, Turkey. The event was the sixth and final Euro Tour event of 2019, following the Klagenfurt Open. The men's event was won by Estonia's Denis Grabe, who won his third Tour win, defeating Eklent Kaçi 9–2. The women's event was won by Poland's Oliwia Zalewska, who won her first Tour event. She defeated Tina Vogelmann in the final 7–6.

The 2021 U.S. Open Pool Championship was an international nine-ball pool tournament held from 13 to 18 September 2021 in Harrah’s Resort, Atlantic City, New Jersey. It was the 44th entry of the U.S. Open 9-Ball Championships, first held in 1976. Joshua Filler was the defending champion, having won the 2019 U.S. Open Nine-ball Championship. However, Filler lost 4–11 to Aloysius Yapp and 3–11 to Mieszko Fortuński, eliminating him from the tournament. Carlo Biado defeated Yapp 13–8 in the final to become of the few Filipino players to win the tournament along with Alex Pagulayan in 2005 and Efren Reyes in 1994.
