It became the second tournament at which Nadal had earned 12 or more victories, after the French Open. Jannik Sinner defeated Mackenzie McDonald in the final, 7–5, 4–6, 7–5 to win the singles tennis title at the 2021 Citi Open. With the victory, Sinner became the youngest player and first teenager on the ATP Tour to win an ATP 500 title since the category was created in 2009.

Andrey Rublev defeated Jiří Veselý in the final, 6–3, 6–4 to win the men's singles title at the 2022 Dubai Tennis Championships. It was Rublev's tenth career singles title. Veselý entered the tournament ranked as the world No. 123, and was the lowest-ranked finalist in the tournament's history.

Taylor Fritz defeated Maxime Cressy in the final, 6–2, 6–7(4–7), 7–6(7–4) to win the men's singles tennis title at the 2022 Eastbourne International.
