The 2019 National Junior A Championship was the 49th Canadian junior A ice hockey national championship for the Canadian Junior Hockey League and the 49th consecutive year a national championship was awarded to this skill level since the breakaway of Major Junior hockey in 1970. The tournament was played at the Centennial Regional Arena in Brooks, Alberta from May 11 to 19, 2019. The event and championship trophy were without a sponsor or title for this year following the ending of Royal Bank of Canada's partnership with Hockey Canada; Hockey Canada formally reinstated the Centennial Cup as the Junior 'A' championship in the summer of 2019.

  1. The Brooks Bandits won the 2019 Inter Pipeline Cup AJHL Championship and played the Prince George Spruce Kings in the Doyle Cup; the winner normally advances to the National Championship. Because Brooks has already earned an entry to the tournament as host, Prince George had also automatically earned an entry to the tournament as the Pacific Region representative, The Spruce Kings also went on to win the Doyle Cup over the Bandits.

The 2022 Centennial Cup, presented by Tim Hortons was the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL) championship for the 2021–22 season and the 50th Canadian junior A ice hockey national championship, played at Affinity Place in Estevan, Saskatchewan from May 18 to 29, 2022. It was the first year the event has been played since 2019. as the COVID-19 pandemic had caused the cancellation of the 2020 and 2021 championships, and also the first since its name reverted to the Centennial Cup. The Brooks Bandits defeated the Pickering Panthers in the championship game to win the national title.

The 2023 Centennial Cup was the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL) championship for the 2022–23 season and the 51st Canadian junior A ice hockey national championship, played at Stride Place in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba from May 11 to 21, 2023. For the second straight season, all nine CJHL league champions and the host team participated in the tournament.

The 2022–23 AJHL season was the 59th season of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL). The Brooks Bandits finished the regular season in first place overall and went on to win league championship Inter Pipeline Cup and the 2023 Centennial Cup national championship.

The 2021–22 AJHL season was the 58th season of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL). The Brooks Bandits finished the regular season in 1st place overall having won 52 of 60 games played. They were then undefeated in the post-season Inter Pipeline Cup playoffs, defeating the Spruce Grove Saints in the final round. They then went on to defeat the Ontario Junior Hockey League championship Pickering Panthers to win the 2022 Centennial Cup national championship.

The 2024–25 AJHL season is the 61st season of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL). Competition will begin on 24 August 2024 with a 35-game exhibition season, followed by a 54-game regular season schedule which will run from 13 September 2024 to 15 March 2025. The Calgary Canucks will host the 2024 AJHL showcase as well as the 2025 Centennial Cup National Junior A championship tournament.

The 2018–19 CCHL season was the 58th season of the Central Canada Hockey League (CCHL). Teams played a 62-game regular-season schedule. The Ottawa Jr. Senators won their second consecutive league championship Bogart Cup, before going on to win their second consecutive Eastern Canada championship at the 2019 Fred Page Cup in Amherst, Nova Scotia. The Ottawa Jr. Senators went on to compete for the 2019 Royal Bank Cup at the national championship tournament in Brooks, Alberta and were eliminated in the semifinal round by the Brooks Bandits of the AJHL.
