The regular season league champions receive the Dave Duchak Trophy. The playoff champions receive the Inter Pipeline Cup. The winner of the AJHL playoffs continues on to play in the Centennial Cup tournament, which determines Canadian Junior A champion.

The tournament was held May 1 to May 5 at Amherst Stadium in Amherst, Nova Scotia. The tournament champions qualified for the 2019 National Junior A Hockey Championship, held in Brooks, Alberta, and hosted by the Alberta Junior Hockey League's Brooks Bandits at the Centennial Regional Arena.
The 2022 Centennial Cup, presented by Tim Hortons was the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL) championship for the 2021–22 season and the 50th Canadian junior A ice hockey national championship, played at Affinity Place in Estevan, Saskatchewan from May 18 to 29, 2022. It was the first year the event has been played since 2019. as the COVID-19 pandemic had caused the cancellation of the 2020 and 2021 championships, and also the first since its name reverted to the Centennial Cup. The Brooks Bandits defeated the Pickering Panthers in the championship game to win the national title.

The 2021–22 AJHL season was the 58th season of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL). The Brooks Bandits finished the regular season in 1st place overall having won 52 of 60 games played. They were then undefeated in the post-season Inter Pipeline Cup playoffs, defeating the Spruce Grove Saints in the final round. They then went on to defeat the Ontario Junior Hockey League championship Pickering Panthers to win the 2022 Centennial Cup national championship.
The 2024–25 AJHL season is the 61st season of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL). Competition will begin on 24 August 2024 with a 35-game exhibition season, followed by a 54-game regular season schedule which will run from 13 September 2024 to 15 March 2025. The Calgary Canucks will host the 2024 AJHL showcase as well as the 2025 Centennial Cup National Junior A championship tournament.

The Ottawa Jr. Senators won their second consecutive league championship Bogart Cup, before going on to win their second consecutive Eastern Canada championship at the 2019 Fred Page Cup in Amherst, Nova Scotia. The Ottawa Jr. Senators went on to compete for the 2019 Royal Bank Cup at the national championship tournament in Brooks, Alberta and were eliminated in the semifinal round by the Brooks Bandits of the AJHL.
