Local elections were held in the Indian state of Telangana in 2019 for various rural local bodies including 12,751 gram panchayats, 538 Zilla Parishad territorial constituencies, and 5,817 Mandal Parishad territorial constituencies. Gram panchayat elections were held in January 2019 whereas ZPTC and MPTC elections were held in May 2019. [1] [2]

Almost 4,000 new panchayats were created in 2018 which went through their first election. [3]

Background

The previous Telangana rural local body elections held in united Andhra Pradesh in 2013 and 2014. Previous gram panchayat elections were held in 2013, [4] the Indian National Congress won 2,669 gram panchayats (only counting the Telangana region), followed by Telugu Desam Party with 1,838 seats, and the Telangana Rashtra Samithi with 1,635 seats. [5] In the elections for ZPTC and MPTC in 2014, the Congress won 176 ZPTCs and 2,315 MPTCs (only counting the Telangana region), followed by TRS with 191 ZPTCs and 1,860 MPTCs, and TDP with 53 ZPTCs and 1,061 MPTCs. [6]

Results

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi swept the elections, winning over 60% of gram panchayats and MPTCs and over 80% of ZPTCs. [1] [2]

He is a Member of the Telangana Legislative Assembly from Adilabad constituency since 2 June 2014. He was earlier a member of Telugu Desam Party. He is an M.L.A. from Adilabad assembly constituency from past four times 2018, 2014, 2012 by elections and 2009 also. He contested from Adilabad seat on BRS ticket in the 2023 Telangana Assembly Elections and lost the seat to BJP's Payal Shanker by 6,692 votes.

The 2014 Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Legislative Assembly elections took place on 30 April and 7 May 2014 to elect members to the legislatures of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. It was held concurrently with the Indian general election. The results were declared on 16 May 2014. The Telugu Desam Party led by N. Chandrababu Naidu won a majority of the 175 seats in the residual Andhra Pradesh, while Telangana Rashtra Samithi led by K. Chandrashekar Rao won in the new state of Telangana.

The Indian state of Telangana was founded in 2014. Its territory had formerly been part of Andhra Pradesh. The Telangana movement was instrumental in the creation of the new state, and Telangana Rashtra Samithi, a party which led the Telangana movement after 2001, formed the government in the Telangana Legislative Assembly under Chief Minister K. Bodige Shobha is an Indian politician from Telangana state. She won the 2014 Telangana Legislative Assembly election as an Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) party candidate from Choppadandi.

The 2020 Sangareddy Municipal Council election was held to elect all 38 members of the Sangareddy Municipal Council. The election was held on 23 January 2020, and the results were released on 25 January 2020.
