The 2019 World Rugby U20 Trophy was the twelfth annual international rugby union competition for Under 20 national teams, second-tier world championship.

Contents

The event was held at the Estádio Martins Pereira in São José dos Campos from 9 until 21 July and was organized by rugby's governing body, World Rugby. [1]

Qualified teams

A total of eight teams played in the tournament. The host Flag of Brazil.svg  Brazil and the 2018 World Rugby Under 20 Championship relegation country Flag of Japan.svg  Japan qualified automatically. The remaining six countries qualified through a qualification process in regional competitions (North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, Oceania).

The futsal competition at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics was held from 7 to 18 October. At Tecnópolis and the CeNARD, the first one located in Villa Martelli, and the second one in Buenos Aires. There are two tournaments, one for boys and one for girls.

The 2018 World Rugby U20 Trophy was the eleventh annually held international rugby union competition for Under 20 national teams, with host nation Romania, along with seven other sides, playing in a group stage followed by a knockout round to determine a champion as well as promotion to the following years' World Rugby Under 20 Championship.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">PBR Global Cup</span>

The PBR Global Cup was a bull riding team competition that was developed in 2017 by the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) organization and ran through 2022. It was intended to give the winning country the ability to say they had the best bull riders. Previously, there was a similar team event called the PBR World Cup that the PBR ran from 2007 to 2010, but this new event was not a continuation of the previous one. The PBR Global Cup consisted of teams from five countries including Australia, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, and the United States.

Twelve teams qualified for men's rugby sevens at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Japan automatically qualified as host, with the top four teams of the 2018–19 World Rugby Sevens Series securing their spots. Afterwards, qualification was determined with each of the six continental confederations determining a representative, and the remaining qualification spot determined through an international sevens tournament.

The 2021 FIFA U-20 World Cup was to be the 23rd edition of the FIFA U-20 World Cup, the biennial international men's youth football championship contested by the under-20 national teams of the member associations of FIFA, since its inception in 1977 as the FIFA World Youth Championship. It was scheduled to be hosted by Indonesia between 21 May and 12 June 2021, which would be the first FIFA tournament hosted by the country. It would also be only the second U-20 World Cup to be held in Southeast Asia, first since 1997, and the first FIFA tournament in the region since the 2012 FIFA Futsal World Cup.

The 2020 World Rugby U20 Trophy was scheduled to be the 13th annual international rugby union competition for Under 20 national teams, second-tier world championship.

The 2023 World Rugby U20 Trophy will be the thirteenth edition of the second-tier age-grade rugby competition. The tournament is to be held in Kenya for the second time, previously being held in 2009.
